It’s no secret that the key to any successful relationship is high quality, and frequent, communication. Bike trails and roads are no different, as they host multiple user groups — cyclists, runners, hikers, equestrians, etc., and who wants to risk accidents or trail access issues? Use of a quality bell can easily help you avoid unwanted conflict.

Engineered from the ground up to be the best possible bell, the Spurcycle Bell has re-established the bar for bells. It is crafted from premium brass and stainless steel in the good ‘ol USA. This durable bell has a distinctive, yet pleasant tone that resonates up to three times as long as most bells — an extended period whose effects are immeasurable while navigating crowded pedestrian malls or approaching blind corners or driveways.

    Satisfies my inner nerd

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Really, a bell on a Time bike? This thing is tastefully small. The mount is delicate looking but robust. When I approach another rider from behind one clear ring is unmistakable as another bike. It's polite. It has really been useful when passing landscape crews and UPS drivers as they tend not to notice bikes while they are working. It actually makes them smile.

    Loud with tricky installation

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Installing the bell was a little bit tricky, but this bell will definitely get people's attention.

    Bicycle Bell Clickbait!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Hello, welcome to my Spur Cycle bell review! You're probably scanning reviews, wondering how a bell can cost $50-60 dollars! I too, was a non believer, but am here to spread the good ding of the Spur Cycle Bell!

If you live in an area with high traffic (or remote and you want to keep away those scary bears), a bell is a great idea on a bike. My requirements were wanting one that was relatively subtle looking, was louder than an screaming infant, and could get used and abused on the trail and not instantly explode. Lets go through these to see how it fairs.

Low key looking: check. Its a bit more obvious than something like the Knog bells, but I had one that style that pretty instantly fell apart after one of the springs came out.

Loud Factor: DING DING (shout this out loud and will be close to as loud as this bell is). Yes, and it has a lovely after ring.

It has been through considerably more use than other my bells have and still truckin' along. Its easy to install and I've now bought them for literally all of my bikes.

It's worth it + a good thing to have

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Yes, it's worth it: a) beautiful; b) works great; c) Made in USA; d) very practical; e) safety issue in a lot of cases; f) fun to ring; g) sometimes I ring it just to hear a sound in the woods. I plan to get a second one.

    Beautiful, but not effective

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

I had lusted over this product for some time. It is visually striking and brilliantly compact. The tone of the ring is very pleasant, even meditative. Unfortunately, the decibel level is outrageously inadequate for urban traffic situations, which is precisely why I wanted the product. In Manhattan, with all of the ambient noise, one simply cannot hear this bell from more than a few feet away, which is not enough. I think I'll stick to shouting at people, as it's much more effective, and just keep my old cheap tiny bell on the handlebars in order to remain street legal.

    Spurcycle Bell

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have zero complaints about this bell. It arrived quickly, installed easily, looks really clean on the handlebars, and sounds very pleasant. The only people I've been passing and used the bell to alert that didn't respond to it were wearing headphones. I liked it so much I got a second one to put on my mountain bike.

Nigel Tufnel: The sustain, listen to it.

Marty DiBergi: I don't hear anything.

Nigel Tufnel: Well you would though, if it were playing.

    Piercing!

I've listened to many, many others in my quest toi find the right bell for my bike. None have such a clear and piercing sound as this one. Clearly a cut above. Very apparent high aquality build too. Buy this bell!

      Oddly Satisfying

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Ok so this thing is expensive, but man it is high quality and the moment you ring you'll know. The thing I like most is when I ring it before a blind turn on the trails, it rings and rings forever. Because it rings so long I do not have to take my thumb off the bars so its 'safer' if you will, to use a long ringing bell. And for some reason it makes me smile? Also very east to mount!

      Makes Me Smile

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Every time I ring this thing I cannot help but think about how awesome it sounds, how loud it is and how long it rings for. It makes me smile every single time. I have one on my road bike and one on my mountain bike.

Yes, it is expensive, but when you behold the craftsmanship as you install it, and ring it for the first time you will know it was money well spent. This is a must have item when you ride bike paths, and trail systems that see heavier traffic.

Two of the guys I ride with have also purchased them after hearing mine in action.

      Rings for Days!

I also gave this bell as a gift - here's the feedback I got from my buddy:
I had the Oi bell from Knog on my bike and while it’s super discrete it’s not loud enough for the trails. This Bell, however, is amazing. Rings for days! Super loud, good looking and easy to install. I’m not sure what else you’d want out of a bell? It looks like it’s well built and could take some hits and keep on ringing.

        Best Bell You Can Buy

This bell is amazing, the hype is real. And yes this bell is so amazing that it is worth reviewing, and worth the price tag. Very high quality construction, with a nice bar attachment. But what really makes this bell worth it is the sound and resonance of the "ding". The whole point is to be heard and this bell accomplishes that better than any others. Buy this and let people know you are coming.

          Premium Quality and Sound.

          • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I bought this as a gift for my husband's birthday - to say the least, it was a hit. The bell comes in a lovely box and the presentation was present-perfect. Admittedly I was expecting a sort of rinky-dink sound, but the ping is super pleasant to the ears yet loud (without being overbearing) and has a very crisp, clean sound. The craftsmanship is amazing, too. I bought him the black and it really melds flawlessly with his black stem (as he chose to put it slightly out of the way of his handlebars). The price tag may be sorta high, but it is well worth it. Also, Spurcycle will happily re-tune your bell should it start sounding a little funky.

          Nothing else like it

          • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

There is no better bell. Period. It seems absurdly expensive for a bell, I know. When you hear the loud blasting ring and are able to warn people you are coming from a mile away though, it all somehow seems worth it. I'll never use another bell again.

Easy to install and durable. I have one on my MTB and have wrecked a couple times on it. Still rings like a champ.

          Sonic Attitude

          • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

When I first read about this little bell, I thought it was extremely pricey for such a diminutive piece of bike bling. What did catch my eye was the clean style and obvious craftsmanship. The boast about the ring time was the tractor beam. I bought one. I then bought three more for my other bikes and another three as gifts. This bell has ATTITUDE!!! The bing is so clear, crisp, and long lasting that it could probably realign the consciousness of the universe. Every time I am near my bike, I am just compelled to flick the striker. It is just plain fun. It is very good looking, well made and will probably outlast my bike. It is fairly easy to install. There is simply no bike, at any price, that this bell would be out of place on. BUY IT! If you don't like it you are simply a curmudgeon.

          The bell of bells.

I purchased this for a black bike and it matches well. I like the design (it looks good), and it was very easy to install. The bell has a very pleasant tone that lasts for a long time. It appears to be very well constructed and I'm predicting that it will last a long time.
