Smartwool has always slayed its baselayers, and the Intraknit Merino Tech 1/4-Zip Top has upped its insulation game with its novel knitting of merino wool and synthetic fibers. This mid-layer top works by layering insulation panels with targeted mesh venting panels to keep us warm and release extra heat when we're working up a sweat on the trail or slope. That body mapping helps to regulate our body temperature and moisture levels when we're active in chilly conditions, and the stripes on the sleeves add some style to our winter layering system.

Great for layering and casual wear
The product description says it all - this 1/4 zip is technical and reliable. Flattering too! It's a great addition to my winter layers for something that is slightly thicker than a traditional merino baselayer. I see other people are writing about size -- this top def fits closer to the skin, but that's the point! So just know if you want room under, maybe size up. otherwise I think it fits like normal with a thin baselayer under it.

Would not recommend personally
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had high hopes for this product but after only a few minutes of wear, I found the material to be itchy and extremely uncomfortable. Unfortunately I could not see myself getting past this so I returned it. The quality was incredible though, I will say. I could tell it would have lasted me forever had it been a good feel.

Perfect training midlayer
I love this jacket as the perfect toss-on when I'm headed to the gym. It's warm and feels expensive. It's very durable and the stripe hits give it a forward, trendy feel. I'll be using it as a midlayer for skiing this winter.

My new fall piece
This is my new fall piece! I had bought this for my travels to Scotland. Love the design. I'm usually a medium and did buy a medium. It does fit, but it is more on the snug side.
