crazy good utility, great for river trip

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Always had a melamine (or some durable plastic) dish-ware for car camping and river trips. Couple pieces finally broke (age?). Had a little gear envy of friends on a recent river trip--packs flat and still cleans easy... Started to substitute in some of these sets into my kit and I'm pleased save for the cost. But function is great. Weight is probably a little more than the plastic stuff its replacing but I'm using this on car and river trips where weight is a non-issue. But the collapsing feature is nice in taking less space--whether in the camp kitchen or in a dry bag going on the raft...

    Bought a second set

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I bought this set and love it. My husband also loves it so much that he would always try and take mine! Now with two sets we are all good. Very lightweight and most off all very packable. It is hard to drink hot drinks out of the cup without a handle, but I usually use a separate mug for coffee/tea.

    Packable, fairly lightweight, sturdy!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I love this mess kit. It's not the lightest one out there, but they pack down really well, are durable, and easy to clean. What more can you ask for from a mess kit? I paired it with the Alpha Light utensils, and everything fits great in the included pouch. I'll be using these for years to come!

    Flat Fits!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I've been struggling with camping bowls for a while, and have tried, ruined, lost my fair share. So far so good with the set of 3. I mostly use the biggest one as a cutting board but I love the small bowl for breakfasts and medium for everything else. I love they they have a pouch, to help guarantee not loosing them. I also travel and take them with me to hotels, because you just never know!

    Awesome and Compact!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

If you are looking for a lightweight and compact set of camping dishes buy these. I bought the full set of plate, bowl, and cup. It is a pretty awesome set. The Cup is large enough for a small cup of soup so you could probably get away with just the cup as your single quiver dish if you wanted to go super lightweight. The Bowl and Plate have a hard solid bottom which makes them very sturdy for heavier meals.
A few added bonuses, the silicone is thick enough to protect your hands from hot meals or liquids. The cup also is a measuring device in mL as Cups. I believe it is 2 cups and 480mL.
These pack so small that you can literally take them anywhere. The Cup is probably the most versatile of the package because it can literally fit in your pocket and you barely even notice it.

    What You'd Expect

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

You get what you see! Ultralight cup, bowl, and plate to make you feel like you're eating in the comfort of your own home when in reality you're sitting in your tent above 10k with howling winds and pouring rain. Get out there and enjoy!

    Easy, lightweight & practical

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These are incredibly easy to pack up and put away. They're lightweight and easy to fit into any slot in your pack. When built up, they hold their shape well. Used them all summer and would buy again!

I've added these to my cart before but never was able to bring myself around to completing the purchase. Seeing a friend's while camping a couple of weeks ago finally brought me around to getting the two-piece set. The collapsible design augmented by the way the cup nicely fits within the bowl particularly appeals to my backpacking instincts.

      Really wanted them to work..

      • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

...But unfortunately they just aren't going to do the job. When my family backpacks, we eat a ton of hot meals, and with how these are made, you can only grab them by the lip or very bottom to prevent burned hands. the lip of the cup isn't sturdy enough to be held by just that and the bottom of the bowl doesn't provide much stability. I'd say if you're not on the end of meals that are really hot they will totally suit your needs.

      Love it

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

These things are awesome! use it as a plate (for small meals) or a bowl, the cup is great and doesn't burn your hand if you have hot coffee in it. Collapses down small for your pack and is dishwasher safe on the top rack. Lightweight and small. What more could ask for when back packing?

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Used it in a 4-day hiking trip and on other occasions where clean water (and food) was a scarce commodity. The X-set allowed me to keep things more personal and clean (it was not the place to get sick). The bowl is especially useful and versatile. Great for soups or just any food. The cup had no issues insulating the heat from boiling tea, so bare hands are not a problem.

      lightweight, versatile, colorful

I love my x-set from Sea to Summit. The X-plate is the perfect size and you flip it over and it's a cutting board! I really appreciate gear that is multi-function and that lasts. I've used this set for 2 years now and it still looks like new. Next on my wish list is the x-shot.

I have concerns about the rubber smell. I washed the mug, and made a cup of tea, but found the smell overwhelming, as well as surprising, since it's made out of silicon. Any suggestions?

To clean these I have used a bleach solution. I put something like a drop of bleach in a liter or so of water and it removes any smell that was once there. Have you tried to put it through a dish washer? Maybe the heat of drying it in there would crush that smell too.
