The original mountaineer.
The Scarpa Men's Primitive Boot is the splitting image of the first leather boots used to mountaineer in the old days, except its far more suitable for modern cities than icy summits. The leather upper has a sophisticated sheen to it, and the smooth leather lining helps your foot slide in nicely. Vibram's Piuma sole certainly keeps the traction worthy of dirty trails if you ever come across one during your urban adventures.

- Q & A
Quality for price, but my arches!
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
- Fit: True to size
- Size Bought: 43.5
- Height: 6'0"
- Weight: 180lbs
These fit true to size. I bought a 43.5 instead of my usual 43 because European brands typically run a bit small for me. These fit great with a tiny bit of room to spare. The extra half size up means I can use thicker hiking socks comfortably. They are soft and broke in quickly, the Vibram sole is sticky as usual, and the lacing system is comfortable and trendy... a lot like Danner Mt Lights without the $385 price tag. Also with glued instead of stitched soles of course.
UPDATE: From the outset, I have experienced arch pain in my right foot whenever wearing these boots. I have never had arch pain and still never do in any other boot, shoe, or sandal. The pain begins mid-way through the day. I will likely benefit from simply replacing the factory inserts with some that provide better support, but those who have arch issues be cautioned. Apparently even those who do not... Reduced from 4 stars to 3 unfortunately.
