Why We Like The Saucony Ultra Ridge GTX Shoe
The Saucony Ultra Ridge GTX Shoe is ready for light hiking, fast packing, and winter trail runs. The shoe's mid-cut design and GORE-TEX waterproofing protect against mud, rain, and snow while its run-oriented frame and foam keeps things light and bouncy when we're on the move. With light weight, a 6mm drop, and aggressive, 4.5mm lugs, this hybrid hiker/mid-cut trail runner doesn't inhibit us as we take on the trail in all weather conditions.

Not heavy duty
Initial fit and comfort were good walking around at home. But quickly noticed 2 downsides: 1) the upper is very lightweight canvas-like material with thin plastic trim and eyelet reinforcement. Does not look durable in function or appearance. 2) The sole tread is more like multiple cleats than a hiking boot tread. Not much surface on the ground; good for mud and snow, but not much else. Speaking of snow, there's not much insulation for warmth. Returned these shoes to Saucony without problem or shipping fee.

Perfect Hiking Boots. Light weight and comfortable
Bought these as I have wide feet and planter fasciitis. Hiked 15-20 miles over 5 days over rocky terrain. These shoes were amazing. Very comfortable. I wore them out of the box, no need to break in and they were the only shoes I brought. Feet felt great the entire time. Highly recommend.

Used the Ultra Ridge GTX four times on my favorite hike. It’s a very steep grade and littered with many rocks, scree, etc. The lugs and sole are way too soft and already show excessive wear and tear. One of the lugs in the heel area already tore off. This boot should only be worn on soft surfaces if you want to get any kind of longevity out of it.

Lightweight and Comfy
I normally end up with heavy hiking boots with double socks. These are so comfortable I am able to switch it up with a lightweight boot that's lighter than most of my shoes and lightweight socks.

Saucony Summits Mt Whitney
Saucony has invented a new class of shoe. A hybrid best of both worlds. With the cushion and lightness of a supershoe and the stability of a rigid high-top hiker, they perform superior in nearly every way to a classic hiking boot. I took these 22 miles round trip to summit Mt. Whitney, and was so happy with my choice. Great cushion. Great stability. Great ankle support. The only complaint, and it's a major one, is when putting too much pressure on the outside heel of the shoe something in the upper really digs into my foot. Fix that and this is the perfect shoe. These shoes appear somewhat similar to the Speedgoat, but the Speedgoat offers less cushion and no real ankle support.

Felt perfect from very first step.
Got them for upcoming trip to Ireland and Scotland and the wet weather and craggy trails. Based on performance of my past Saucony trail shoes these should be great - and they look pretty good too!

Light-weight, mid height, trail runner-Excellent!
I wear these every other day. I switch with a pair of HOKA trail runners. I am an ex-runner due to hip replacement but still want comfort and performance out of my footwear as I'm on my feet every day. These are very good quality shoes! Will buy again
