XA Pro 3D Trail Running Shoe

Made for your morning run up mountain trails, the Salomon XA Pro 3D Men's Trail Running Shoe is Salomon's lightest advanced-chassis shock-absorbing shoe. The 3D advanced-chassis system pairs with close-to-the-ground construction for ultimate stability. This system stabilizes your feet over uneven terrain, without losing energy from your stride. Less stiff thanks to less TPU in the sole, the Pro 3D rises above the other XA models, providing more shock absorption. Built for moving quickly, the 3D has lightweight, breathable sandwich mesh, so you can run the best times of your season. Quickfit asymmetrical lacing with a lace pocket keeps your fit perfect through your entire race.

    • Light, stable, and cushy performance for the trail
    • Endofit construction yields snug, friction-free fit
    • TPU overlays prevent heel and instep lift
    • Ortholite footbed provides support and cushioning
    • Dual-density EVA midsole for responsive impact absorption
    • Low-profile chassis for motion control and energy management
    • Contagrip outsole ensures grip on wide variety of terrain

If you're getting yourself some hiking shoes, look no further. They did a really good job getting this to fit true to size, solid feeling around the toes. Have a great cushion to them although not too much to still have a good feel for the ground. I had these for a 12 mile hike and has done me wonders, I'm positive you'd be able to go all day every day in these. I would say they are on the slightly heavier end but again I'm coming from a most minimal cushioned trail running shoe that weighed practically nothing.
Can't be disappointed in these, I am happy with this purchase.

    My Go To Backpacking Shoe

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Men's 9

These shoes are great! In addition to wearing them for everyday life, these are also my go-to backpacking shoe. They have great traction and are versatile enough to work on everything from sandy deserts to mountain glaciers. I am probably on my 8th pair and they have made a number of improvements over the years, most recently by upgrading the button on the quick release laces. The only potential complaint I have is that they do wear out. I have resigned myself to getting a new pair every year, but then again I do put a lot of rough miles on them.

    Not for me

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Men's 8.5
    • Height: 5'8"

After research, ordered these tried them on a couple activities(trailrun/hike). They lacked cushioning and midsole is on stiff side. They seem to aggravate my Plantar Fascia on right foot and caused a notable blister on left heel. (Note: I never had an issue with a blisters in all my years outdoors trying different boots/shoes.)

    Bought them again!

I have had a pair of these that I have worn as my everyday shoe for over two years. I didn't need a new pair, but I wanted to get a new color. I got bored before they wore out. Great shoe!

    Dad's Favorite

    • Fit: True to size

My dad wanted a second pair cause he loves them so much. They are his go-to shoe for hiking, and even long walks. Says they are super comfortable and run true to size.

my husband will only trail run in these. He has plantar and these take the pain away. This will be his 4th pair.

    Great shoe

    • Height: 5'6"

Solid trail shoe. Takes a little while to break them in. Very stiff sole. Right of the box they are pretty stiff for trail running, but they are killer on a hike. Super grippy sole. Highly breathable. Runs true to size edging towards the small side.

    On My Second Pair.

Like the title says, I am on my second pair of these shoes and absolutely love them! I wore the first pair for over a year and they are still in good condition, the Sole is just lacking due to wear. The 3D Chasis gives plenty of support and the Contragrip Sole gives plenty of traction on a variety of surfaces including Slickrock and granite.
They breathe well and dry out quickly if they get wet. I can not recommend these shoes enough! Sizing is true, and they offer these in a Wide version.

I have written a bunch of reviews on Salomon trail runner/approach shoes. This shoe has the most room in the toe box of any Salomon that I have ever worn; even more than the XA PRO GTX. They are light, feel great and breath spectacularly. What remains to be seen is how long the sole and cushion will last. In my experience, in urban use, it will not be overly long...the upside is no break in period is needed.

Perfect right out of the box

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 14(D)
    • Height: 6'4"
    • Weight: 210lbs

Shoes got delivered on Wednesday, I wore them around the house a bit on Thursday, and then backpacked over 30 miles in two days Friday-Saturday with a 35# pack. These shoes did great on that trip and have been my go-to shoes for anything off-pavement since then. They are perfect for regular trails but still stable/strong enough for off-trail and light bushwhacking.
I really like the speed lace system that they use. It's very easy to get them perfectly tight and stash the excess inside the tongue pouch, out of harms way.
I'm 6'4", 210 lbs, size 14 with a fairly narrow foot and these fit me very well with no rubbing issues. If they last a reasonable amount of time, Salomon will have a customer for life in me.

    Very comfortable

These are among my favorite shoes. They have great forefoot cushioning and fit perfectly. I have sort of wide feet (EE) and do not think they are narrow at all! The quick laces are very handy and snug also. These are my third pair- new ones every spring.

Good but dont hold up quite long.

Bought this shoe last July 2017, break it in sinced it arrived. After for about 6 wears only in the outdoors, the sole separate in both pair. It was’nt a year already! SALOMON COME ON!!! I expecting a lot of beatings, wear and tear before you give up!!! But only 6 wears??? Im disappointed 🤬. Any backcountry sales rep in there can help with warranty? Thanks!

    Good overall shoe

This is my fourth pair that I have owned. Overall, a great show for general use and hiking specifically. I do not like them for trail running as they are relatively heavy and "clunky." I find that they fit my narrow feet well and I have had no issues with the laces loosening. Overall, a very good daily shoe.

    so far, really good

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Very comfortable shoes. I have about 30 miles in them thus far, so not a lot, but am happy with the purchase. I'm a 12 in every other shoe but was advised to order 1/2 size up, which I did, and am happy that I did. They're not waterproof. Good stability and seem well built. There ya go!

Great Gift for the Outdoor Guy

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I am a Salomon die hard so admittedly biased, so I bought these for my boyfriend as a gift. While they are marketed as trial runners, he uses them more often for hiking. The tread, style and fit are great. Rocky, packed snow, muddy terrain is not a problem. What sold me on these was an earlier review that mentioned they are a narrower fit - he tends to have a narrow foot and has mentioned that these work really well for him!

    Durable, Comfortable, Versatile Shoes!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

These have been my hiking shoes of choice for the last 3 summer seasons. They are super comfortable and have never given my feet issues with blisters or any kind of hot spots. They dry out pretty quickly after a river crossing or soggy meadow. I highly recommend these to anyone looking for an adventure shoe for backpacking, hiking and just about anything really! So good, i had to get another pair!!

    Durable, Comfortable, Versatile Shoes!

    Well built, but narrow

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: 10.5
    • Height: 5'11"
    • Weight: 190lbs

Salomon makes some awesome footwear, but they tend to run narrow (especially in the toe box). I went up a half size in mine and they still cramped my toes. However, if you have more narrow feet, these would be amazing. Feel like tanks on your feet! The folks at Backcountry are taking good care of me even after wearing them around for a couple weeks.
