Great Shoe
This is my 3rd pair of the X Ultra 4's, and one of many pairs of Salomons I own. As usual, they are well made, comfortable for all-day wear, especially for work - if you are on your feat most of the day. They are ideal for any LE/First Responder/.mil. There is support and padding where needed, they are light, not bulky, and get better with use. You don't feel the typical relief when taking the shoes off - that's how comfortable they are!

Fits like a glove but...
I've had 2 pairs of the Ultra 4 X and both pairs had an issue with the front rubber section coming unglued with the first 10 miles of hiking in the shoes. The first time on the left foot, then the 2nd time on the right foot. They fit great and I will continue to buy Solomon as they are the only shoes that I can wear straight out of the box and not get blisters. But dang I wish the workmanship on these was better. I am purchasing a different model this time so, hoping this issue isn't pervasive throughout the entire product line.

These shoes are not waterproof
I bought these shoes about a month ago to replace another pair of gore-tex shoes. I wanted a pair of shoes I can wear when walking the dogs. The water I wanted protection against was rain on grass but the shoes didn’t protect my socks from being soaked.

Ultra 3 is sooooo much better than Ultra 4
I owned two pairs of Ultra 3s. It's pretty much all I wear. I bought them a long time ago when trying out shoes for a long Europe hiking trip and fell in love with them. When I needed a new pair, the Ultra 3s were no longer made so I bought a pair of Ultra 4s. The 3s were sturdier and my foot felt more secure. But by far the biggest issue I have is with the tongue of the Ultra 4. The tongue of the Ultra 3s would stay up so I could easily slide my foot in and go (yes, I'm lazy and always in a hurry). The Ultra 4s have a completely different tongue material and it always falls down, so I now have to pull the tongue up to put my foot in the shoe, every. single. time! Such a small thing, but omg, it's a pretty annoying inconvenience to do this daily when I never had to do it for years with the Ultra 3. Please, I beg you, update your amazing shoe and fix this issue!

Everest Base Camp
I went from Speedcross 3 to theses as my hiking/trail boot. I wanted something a little thicker with more support and went with the X Ultra. I prefer a low cut shoe and really like the quick laces. I wore these shoes from Lukla to Everest Base Camp, in the Grand Canyon, as well as many other hikes in the southwest. Unfortunately the laces broke on a hike in Colorado last weekend. The soles were wearing low so I knew it was about time for new shoes.

X-ultra 4 is a disaster
x-ultra 3 was an awesome model, bring it back and fire your designers, who invented x-ultra 4. What a junk is this new model! Wish I could buy X-ultra 3.

comfortable and stable
i've had an old pair for a while, tried one new pair but even after waring in for weeks they still gave me blisters. This pair are not just comforable i've worn them over 4 days walking about 4 hours a day with no problem, i'm not sure if it's the fact they are not Gortex made the difference.
