Good overall
It rubs a little in some places, especially on the fingers, but I think it will go away with time.

Great Shoe for narrower feet!
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times

I’ve always been a fan of Salomon XA pro but they have never been amazing for my narrow feet. These shoes so far have great heel hold even with a aftermarket footbed (superfeet hike cushion). The heel pocket and mid foot fit well and the toe box has plenty of room for toes to do what they need to do.

light, comfortable and sturdy
This is my second pair, I wear them to work and they hold up well. They provide really good ankle support and foot support.

The Wrong Shoe for me

Skipping the details of my experience, this shoe is inferior to the GTX model priced somewhat above it. The tongues slipped to the outside always, the foot bed or maybe the sole construction, the sensation of feel seemed dull or wooden, the over all fit was loose, there was kind of an overall flimsy feeling. This is of course 100% subjective, my experience. I'm not saying someone else wouldn't find them perfect; I hike in rough and rocky vertical places. Plus they aren't waterproof....Go for the GTX model.

Pretty good
they are good but the comfort could be better. They just feel like they have no cushion.

Perfect support and function
Purchased the X Ultra 4 after my previous Salomon’s had met their limit , 7 years of service. I expected the same when I purchased these and just about a year into wearing 1x to 2x per week for medium/ moderate day hikes (6-10 miles) I expect these will last about 4 or 5 years .. Highly recommend this shoe, great support, comfortable and thus far as durable as my prior pair- I believe a predecessor to the x ultra 4.

Downgrade
I don’t know how you take a hiking icon, the X Ultra 3, and replace it with this. Narrow mid with larger toe fits almost no one. No idea why the heel was raised, it chaffs the back of the ankle. The insole is not as raised or solid as on the 3. The quick lace system and storage is worse than the 3. The shoe is overall uncomfortable. I can’t speak to durability because I returned them. Release the Ultra 3 again and get rid of this horrible shoe. The poor reviews are well deserved.

Durable comfy shoe.
I walk 3-4 miles per day on rocky trails. Shoes last me 22-18 months despite the abuse. Only complaint are the laces particularly the fob at the end. When it slips off center the connection is exposed and makes the hard to pull tight.
