Why We Like The Salomon Speedcross 6 GTX Trail Running Shoe
Early morning dew and afternoon rain showers don't slow us down when we're laced into Salomon's Speedcross 6 GTX Trail Running Shoe. This latest iteration weighs in lighter and bites harder, upping our tempo, while the breezy GORE-TEX membrane keeps our feet dry along the ride. As we stride atop sopping singletrack, the revamped sole releases mud as we go, keeping every strike solid for high-power toe-offs.

Comfort and traction is off the chart
Booth these shoes about 1 month ago - after looking and trying a number of brands/styles. I am a road runner - not a trail runner and bought these for everyday wear… That was a mistake!!! These shoes are so comfortable and the traction so amazing - they are almost like “running cleats” - they have me walking, climbing, jogging, every trail I can find, as I am trying to find these shoe’s limit. So far, they have defeated every trail, every obstacle, and every weather that I have thrown at them (at least the ones that I can physically overcome while inside the shoes!) The comfort, the traction of the conta-grip sole - and the added bonus of the GORE TEX make these shoes the most capable and most bullet proof shoes I have ever owned - and the comfort make them my go to shoes for my new trail attacks or a day of all day walking in the mall with my wife! Honestly, I could go on - but by now, if you are still reading this, you are thinking this guy’s a loon or he’s getting paid - and unfortunately, I am not getting paid to write this, so that leaves only the other!!! 😂 I would recommend these shoes to the trail runner, to the everyday mall walker, and to anyone else who just wants a great shoe that will keep their feet dry!

Durability issues
I am a fan of Salomon boots and have had great experiences there so decided to give these a shot. Out of the box comfort, lightweight, and did not have issues with grip when wet as other reviews mention. Where i have issue is that 15 miles into their maiden voyage the toe cap began to delaminate. Very disappointing. Compared to the Climasol waterproof 'tech' I was unimpressed with these and thought Gore-Tex would be a step up but that was not the case for me. Still like them just bummed on the toe cap honestly and worries me for what these may look like 10 trips deep.

Just the best on the market.
This has to be my 25th Pair of Salomon’s and they are just the best Gortex shoes on the market. Easy to get on and off, great grip on snow and wet surfaces and keep your feet dry. Hold up year round.

Flashes of greatness - Issues with durability
Would be 5-stars hands down however quality issues leave me disappointed. I am fan of Salomon, love their boots and have had great experience there so decided to give these shoes a try. Out of the box comfort, incredible grip, and lightweight. Where I find issue is that the sole at the toe (see pic) started to delaminate 15 miles into their first ever hike, which is just beyond disappointing. Total trip was 32 miles over two days and seeing this is really worrisome being their maiden voyage. Was left wanting more with regard to how well the gore-tex kept me dry as well. I feel the climasol technology in the boots I have does a better job which I found surprising, and disappointing.

Buying a second pair
I love these! Mud, rain, regular day and with thick socks my feet are warm. You don’t need to lace them- just pull a string. I have in green. I’m going to try another color.

Very capable shoes
Really like the way these are designed, they feel like a regular pair of shoes with the addition of the Goretex bootie. Very comfortable. I recommend going up 1/2 to a full size as they are more narrow than expected, especially with padded Thorlo socks.

Fit is great, true to size, no complaints
Shoes are always 90 percent or above. I like the new color combination, washed the shoes, air dried, fit was as good as when first broke in.

Image on the website is different from the shoe
I'm a big fan of Salomon and been using Speed Cross for years, until version 6 which has a large "SPEED CROSS" print on top of the shoe. I saw the pictures on the website and thought they had removed that print, but to my surprise, it is still there! What a disappointment.

Excellent Hiking Shoe
I bought this to hike the Juliana Trail in Slovenia and it was perfect for many surfaces.

GTX Version is Smaller
Before buying on-line, I was able to find the non-GTX version locally to ensure proper fit/size given past experiences with Salomon size variability. Unfortunately, the GTX version is a much tighter fit. When sizing I wore the same style socks too. Suggest ordering a half size larger if choosing GTX version.
