The hiking doesn't stop where the snow starts.
In a world where skiing and snowboarding are the winter sports to do, you hike apart from the crowd by going winter camping. The Men's Salomon Quest Winter GTX Boot is constructed from waterproof leather and textile with a Gore-Tex membrane that will keep your feet dry as you hike through ankle-deep snow or cross ice-cold creeks. Further insulated against winter temperatures, these backpacking boots will keep your feet comfortable down to 21-degrees Fahrenheit, with an extreme limit rated at -13 degrees.
To ensure your multi-mile trek is efficient and that your shoes provide a stable and responsive ride, Salomon includes many features from their Quest backpacking line. A high-cut profile provides increased ankle-support, stability, and protection for long days on the trail, and Salomon's lightweight advanced chassis nestles between the outsole and midsole, assisting with motion control and energy management. I have the Salomon X-Ultra boots also and this boot is definitely stiffer, but just as good. A bit taller too and so nice and warm, furry fleecy lined, mmmm. Fits in snowshoes and gaiters just fine. Great waterproof winter boot and it is beautiful too- really a good looking boot.
Not the Salâs we love
As a long time Salomon buyer (Multiple XA Pro 3Dâs, Speedcross) the QuestWinter seemed like THE perfect solution to winter and snow action - wrong. They keep your feet warm but are just too stiff for everyday movements, even after a month of wear (hoping theyâd give some). For a heavy pack on your back, they would provide good support; but plan on sore ankles if youâre just out for a winter hike.
Such high hopes...
- Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

I love Salomon hiking boots. I am on my 3rd pair. I was excited at the prospect of having a winter insulated version of the Quest. They feel weird, tight, pinch at the ankles, and are very stiff in an unusual way. Wanted to love them as much as my other Quest boots, but even at a steal of a deal, just can’t.
