Was looking for a well-ventilated ski pant to use inbounds and while touring. I wear 32" waist pants so I ordered a M, but exchanged for L to get more room, since M's were tight in hip/waist area (didn't need the velcro tabs on sides). The cut is roomy and articulated knee keeps them from binding at the knee or crotch when crouching or hiking. Zips on inside and outside of thigh are awesome. Tough material means I'm not worried about rips on edges or trees/brush. Haven't used the 'powder skirt', never had that much snow...yet. No issues with water penetration. Used them on -5degree day (with powerstretch underneath) to 50degree spring hike/ski day, and they handled both well. Overall very comfortable when you get the right size.
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- Fit: Runs large
- Size Bought: L
- Height: 5'9"
- Weight: 179lbs
Have in mind - those things are huge. Perfect fit to smuggle cocaine bricks over the customs. Not sure about skiing though.
I have a ~31 inch waist, ~31 inseam, generally ski with a fairly thin base layer, and find that small Arcteryx snowpants (e.g. Sabre) fit well (even a little big). Would a small Salomon QST work for me or should I go up to a medium?
Do these have the lower leg gaiters that go over your boots?
Are these pants insulated? If not, why are the cheaper Salomon chill out bib pant insulated while these are not? Maybe these pants were created like a shell and consumers are expected to layer underneath them for warmth?
