Super weird
This shoe offers zero ankle stabilization, and it actually makes your ankle less secure because no matter how tight you make the draw strings the support just isn't there. It also has a very narrow toe box, and I don't even have wide feet. I've been using Salomon shoes for over 5 years now and I've never had a more negative experience. Def don't recommend

Quality not what it used to be
These boots replaced my previous X Ultra 4 mid-Gortex boots which were replaced under warranty as they split and leaked. This was in fact the second pair that split within the warranty so I opted for a different style this time. These boots are nowhere near as comfortable and it’s taking time to wear them in. They are much stiffer and have lock laces which are harder to adjust and then there’s a long bit left to tuck in. Also because the laces are thinner than conventional laces they tend to cut into fingers and ankles when pulled tight. Unfortunately the quality is no longer as good as it used to be and having bought Salomon boots for approx 20 years the time has come to look for a different brand.

Beautiful color, great design, lightweight
This is my third pair of Salomon shoes. I buy them over land over again because of the amazing quick lace system. This is my first pair of ankle-height boots and they have not disappointed. The color is beautiful and I receive compliments on them all the time. They are super lightweight and comfortable. I haven't tested how waterproof they are yet, but my other Gore-Tex Salomon's have performed very well.

Dangerous Strings!
Just came back from a walk, should I say a bad fall. The strings on the boots are way too long and as much as you try to tuck them in the stretch pocket, they come out and this time I was not my day, I stepped on the string and had a bad fall. Good thing I was walking and not running. Both knees bruised and very sore hands. This issue needs to be fixed. Won't buy again.

Love the color palette. Prefer last year's footbed
I bough last year's model and so appreciate the "cushiony" feel of the footbed. I teach art on a concrete floor all day and these boots are perfect. I love the green/orange/brown color combo offered this year and bought a pair. Lovely, yes, but gone is the springy/bouyant/cushy quality. Where do you suppose it went?! Have a most beautiful day!!

A bit disappointed
It took a while to arrive here and I have to say im a bit disappointed as they hurt my feet terribly that I cannot walk more than 10 minutes in them at any time. It makes me sad as the XT-slates are my favourite shoes and nowhere on the same comfort level.

keeper
Have a doggy biz so walk a lot and am on my 4th pair of similar Salomon hiking shoes. Still love them but this time went for more ankle support / coverage and the tongue seems way bigger than it needs to be, and in fact protrudes a bit. Not a big deal but seems like something y'all should know. Oh, and I especially appreciate are how light water resistant and spacious they are (especially since I tend to get blisters and have an hereditary proclivity to bunions).

Better than expected
Bought these as a winter alternative to my Speed Crosses. They're very light weight, 100% waterproof, and a good height for a fresh dusting of snow. (Heavier snow does tend to get packed to the bottom treds but it hasn't been much of a problem this winter. Will have to see come spring if the same happens with the mud - I don't have problems with the Speed Crosses in the spring.) I wear a wool sock with them to retain heat, without I probably could have downsized a half size - I find I have a bit of heel slippage with a thinner sock. I know these are a mid - a hightop version of the Speed Crosses - but if they were a touch higher or had 2 lace holes at the very top to help keep the tounge snug up to the front of your ankle that would be awesome. I would 100% buy again.

Laces are troubling
I overlooked the speed lace feature and struggle every time I put them on. They are too long, the tuck in feature doesn’t work and I can’t get the tops tight enough to support my ankles. I do like the soles of these boots, good base for muddy, rocky trails.
