Hit the trails and get that tail a waggin'.

The Ruffwear Front Range Harness gives your dog a comfortable fit and a free range of motion for those long days of running and exploring that she loves. This easy-on, easy-off harness provides four adjustment points for a customized fit and offers leash attachment points on both the back (for everyday walks) and chest (for training or additional control). Padded chest and belly panels offer load dispersion for comfortable extended wear, and reflective trim allows for safety and visibility in low light conditions. An ID pocket stores dog tags and stops that annoying jingling.

size L/XL is too small !

Not for large dogs or dogs with deep chest like Boxers. My dog is a male boxer weighing in 78 lbs. I measured his girt carefully and it was 34" and ordered size L/XL which supposed to fit 32-42", but it didn't. After adjusting the straps to the longest possible, it was still too tight around the chest area. Please Ruffwear make true x-large and please don't combine sizes.

update....after fooling with the harness again, today I was able to extend the straps to fit my dog chest, but the black plastic where the straps joined would not be padded. This area is kinda hard if touching a dog skin...I may try to add pads myself before thinking about returning the product.

      Great for learners!

This harness is so great! I love walking my puppy when she’s wearing this. It makes it easy to control her since it has a clip on the front and the back. The front clipping point is a necessity when your pup starts to pull. It will stop that habit in a flash. It is very durable, and it can be adjusted to different sizes.

For a few years Kit was rocking the Ruffwear Webmaster, but there were some scenarios where I felt the harness was a bit much, but I still wanted her to have a harness that was not just some random one from a pet store. The this harness made it to market and I discovered how amazing it was. It's lighter weight and less bulky for Kit, but still does a great job as a harness so for the shorter and less technical hikes it was perfect.

Kit wears a Medium and weights 45 lbs on a good day. And when she has gained a few it still fits just fine!

      Amazing Harness

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I have never owned a harness for my dog, but after getting this I don't know how I've gone so long without! The front clip on it allows me to walk the pup without her pulling too much on the leash, thank goodness! And the material is durable and looks fairly comfortable for the dog. I don't see any points where it would be rubbing her skin in a bad way. The only gripe I have with it is that the harness is pretty padded, so for very fluffy dogs they may get extra warm in this in the summer.

      Good but doesn't last long

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've had this harness for about a year, and it is already tearing where the leash clips in. My dog is only 25 lbs, and doesn't pull too hard on it. Very disappointing that the harness didn't last longer. I contacted the original manufacturer about returns but never heard back. Otherwise it was great harness.

      Adventure Harness!

This harness works great on our lab mix, Arlo. He weighs 55lbs and the Medium size fits him perfectly. He is not great on a leash/collar combo and pulls/chokes himself. The front clip on this harness has helped with this, making walks around the park so much more enjoyable! I prefer using the front clip but my husband uses the back metal clip which works well for him since he is a little stronger and can contain the beast easier. We've had this for over a year now and it has held up GREAT considering Arlo wears it swimming/hiking/rolling in the mud/etc.

      Helps contain the Phoebeast!

      • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

Phoebe weighs a little more than 40 lbs, and Ruffwear's medium fits.
I think that Phoebe probably likes her harness well enough - I'm sure she'd love more freedom than she gets on leash, but the harness doesn't restrict her range of motion, and she doesn't seem to notice it most of the time.
I am happy with the harness because it has leash attachments on both the chest and back.
Phoebe doesn't spend much time on leash, and the harness helps contain her enthusiasm when she goes places that would rather not have a scruffy scavenger on the loose.

      Goatworthy!

What up! I'm Spur Bear, the adventure mini poodle. Yeah, that's right, I'm a mini poodle. With my Ruffwear Front Range Harness and Flat Out Leash, I can outclimb anyone. Bring it!

Here I am at the top of Beech Mountain in Acadia NP. There were a few spots I couldn't jump with my amazing abilities so my climbing buddy had to pull me up with my harness. It worked great. No pressure points, no slack, just pure climbing bliss. That aluminum V ring is solid and the placement provided perfect balance.

The material is tough also. The rough granite of Acadia was no match for this harness. No marks, tears, rips or anything!

In addition, that blue color gets lots of attention as I'm drinking a cold one (water of course).

You want real gear for real adventure? Get this harness! It's Goatworthy gear for dogs! On to my next climb...

      Good minus front clip

      8 month-old aussie mix, ~45lbs, small harness

Oakley is an energetic pup that likes to pull with just a collar. We picked up one of these based on the reviews, and have liked it so far. He's about an inch or so under the upper limit, and the small is working well. He tried to bite it at first like everything else, but has figured out the harness means we're going somewhere fun. The back clip is great for keeping the leash away from his paws. However, the front clip kinda sucks. Like another reviewer mentioned, if he pulls with the front clip, it slides to the side. It works, but not nearly as well as a traditional front clip one that has a horizontal strap across the chest.

      Good minus front clip

      Better option than a collar.

I got this to gain some control on a dog that likes to pull. Honestly, I think it's a bit bulky but my dog doesn't seem to uncomfortable, no more than when she wears a jacket. If your dog is right on the top end of sizing I might suggest sizing up. My dog was an inch skinnier than sizing for a Medium and if she were much larger it might not have fit.

        Monster tested, zoe approved.

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

My furry monster tends to be a bit of a leash-jerker, so this is a great option to keep her contained and comfortable without resorting to a compression collar. Less drama-queen coughing from her when she decides she'd like to run away for the circus and forgets she's on leash, and more fun hiking, running, and playing. It's a teeny bit bulky, and I wish it were slightly easier to adjust strap length when the harness is on, but overall it's incredibly easy to use and well-made.

        Great Harness

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

True to size (just follow the chart), well put together, and does not rub any spots on my pup's body. He's a big boy (120 lbs.) so the clip in the front chest doesn't do much to stop him from pulling when he wants at something, but I'm certain the feature would work well on a small/medium sized dog. Lifetime warranty! Booyeah cooyeah! All in all, a good investment.

        Perfect for my pug

I got this harness for my pug. He's a bit of a houdini when it comes to harnesses. He can usually back out of them. He hasn't managed to backed out of this one, it fits him perfectly in all the right places, and he loves wearing it. He's been on simple walks with it and hiking in it, including in water. I'm a big fan of this harness. My guy is 30lbs, deep chested, and the medium fits him perfectly.

          Perfect for my pug

          Works Fine

          • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I bought this for my 120 lb American Bulldog. I bought the L/XL for him and it fit just fine. He did not exactly dig it, but he did not seem to be in any discomfort at all. It was his first time in a harness, so he did not not know what to expect. It obviously made him easier to control like all harnesses. Bonus, I did not notice any sore spots from friction and I am thinking about upgrading my other dogs harness for one of these.
