Hit the trails and get that tail a waggin'.

The Ruffwear Front Range Harness gives your dog a comfortable fit and a free range of motion for those long days of running and exploring that she loves. This easy-on, easy-off harness provides four adjustment points for a customized fit and offers leash attachment points on both the back (for everyday walks) and chest (for training or additional control). Padded chest and belly panels offer load dispersion for comfortable extended wear, and reflective trim allows for safety and visibility in low light conditions. An ID pocket stores dog tags and stops that annoying jingling.

    My favorite dog harness ever!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

After doing a ton of research on harnesses I decided on the Ruffwear Front Range harness for my 2 year old dog. She sometimes pulls against her collar so hard that she starts choking so I wanted to get her something to help distribute her weight better. I have absolutely loved using this harness with her since we got it! We use it every day on our walks and hikes and it has certainly been put through tons of conditions. It is super durable and has held up wonderfully. My dog seems to be super comfortable in the harness and it fits her body perfectly.

    Hardworking, stylish harness

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

We love this harness, it is tough and resilient even with our extra stubborn bulldog. It is super adjustable, hugs your pup in the right places without pulling on them, and holds up against the strongest dogs.

    Comfortable & Seems Durable

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

My Springer Spaniel is a puller. He ends up pulling less with the harness. This one is nicely padded, fairly easy to adjust. I found the fit guide to be accurate.
Getting it on and off is quite easy. When he sees the harness, he tries to put his head in it. Easy to take on and off. Haven't used the front leash attachment; doesn't seem durable. No chaffing under the front legs.
Not real easy to adjust on the dog, but once adjusted, it's a matter of just unsnapping the two rear buckles. Gunther is 60+ pounds, and the Medium fits.

    Tucker loves his harness

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I got this harness for my big pit mix Tucker and he absolutely loves it. He didn't have any problems with it during initial try on and he now knows it means we are going out on an adventure. Tucker isn't a big fan of water so when we need to cross rivers I can just scoop him up with the harness to make sure he can cross without getting his paws wet. The size is right on for most ruffwear products, however for anyone also shopping for a dog backpack I found I had to size down to a medium while Tucker wears this harness in a large so definitely double check!

We have had this harness for over a year now and it is holding up great.

    Tucker loves his harness

Dog gives it two paws up

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The medium seems to fit my 45 lb border collie mix well. I like that this harness has a leash attachment both on the dorsal and ventral sides of the harness. My dog pulls much less with this harness on and when the leash is connected to the ventral side of the harness he pulls even less as it turns him when he does. Holds up great and easily rinses off when ole Frank Dogg rolls in the mud.

    Poor Fit On My Part

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I got this harness in gray, size medium, after my pit mix wandered away and chewed the buckle on her last harness. With the multiple adjustment points, I was able to dial in a pretty decent fit, but when she's not putting her weight into the harness, the chest panel gapes quite a bit. This may be a sizing issue on my part and not a fault in design. Regardless, the harness functions very well and appears to be relatively comfortable once she'd gotten used to the over-the-head design. I like knowing there's extra padding in key areas (beneath the buckles specifically) and the front attachment point definitely stumps her when she starts to pull.

All in all, there are a lot of reasons to love this harness - just make sure you measure your pup (even if it's a hassle)!

    Perfect Harness

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I recently bought a harness since our puppy Gregor was always pulling on walks. Within a day he had chewed the harness; I think it was because he hated it so much. I then decided to give this one a try after all of the reviews said it was so good. Well it is!! He still doesn't like putting it on, I think its mostly since it has to go over his head. But besides that he likes wearing it. He runs and plays the same, and it doesn't seem to slow him down. The only difference is that when we are walking on leash he doesn't pull! Also, with all of the deep snow around in UT this is a great harness to grab and help lift him up a bit.

    Perfect Harness

    Great Design

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I adopted a 10 month old Aussie through a breed specific rescue. He’™s the best boy, but his previous owner had significant health issues and he needs some significant work on his manners, and is especially awful on a leash.

In a week of having him and using the Front Range harness I’™ve seen significant improvements while he’s on the leash. No pull harneses are fantastic; there’s absolutely no need for an archaic prong collar. He wears the harness all day and doesn’t seem to mind it in the slightest, and it certainly doesn’t slow him down during our thrice a day your long ball sessions! No chafing or hair pulling either.

I love the reflective hits on it, and really like the ID pocket too. I keep basically a second set of tags in there in case he were to get lost and slip a collar or something strange.

My single complaint is that it doesn’t have a mounting point to attach Ruffwear’s rechargable Beacon light. I love that little light because it has three different colors so it’s easy to ID different dogs at night and is rechargable via mini-USB. I emailed Ruffwear’s customer service suggesting they add a loop and they said they’d forward it on to designers, so hopefully the next version will have that added feature. Still not a deal breaker to me.

Hayduke weighs right at 50# and a medium fits him well, with additional adjustment for when he fills out a bit more.

    Great Design

    dog hates harnesses

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

but this is still a good harness. My terrier is super smart and likes to slip out her harness but this one she has yet to figure out how to get out of it. she is an extra small but she is about 25 lbs. my standard beagle wears this harness in a size small at 40 pounds

    Awesome Harness for Small Dogs

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I gave this as a christmas present to my roommate, and here is what she had to say:

My sweet and active Chiweenie mix looks FANTASTIC in this bright green harness. He almost always wears a small in dog paraphernalia, but took an XS in this harness. I probably could have gotten an XXS, but the XS will fit over his puffy jacket (yes, he has a puffy jacket). Easy to adjust the straps! Speaking for a small dog.... this didn't rub him weird at all like I have experienced with other harnesses. The quality looks great, I have a feeling this will last a long time for him.

    Perfect Harness!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I got this harness for my dog Toasty who is a husky/shepherd/lab mix, about 50 pounds, in a size medium. It fits her perfect! The harness fits her body style better than a traditional dog collar. We were having troubles with collars slipping off of her neck while we were walking. This harness fits perfect and does not slip off and she also pulls less on the leash. I got the orange color and it is easy to spot her when she is running free! Definitely recommend this harness as an everyday/hiking harness!

    perfect minimalist harness

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Got this for my 45lb labradoodle and its been great.
Fits nice and secure and makes walking him a lot easier, he cant escape.
I went with the size small and it fits him better now that he is over a year old and full grown.

    Great no pull harness

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

We got this for our 6 month old border collie puppy and she is much more manageable to walk and take on short runs wearing this harness. We are still working on learning on to heel, but I do feel confident that she is happier than in her collar. She is in a size small, and it fits great around her torso, but even on the smallest setting is a bit big around her neck and she's pretty skinny.

    Wrangle that wild pup

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Got this harness for my puppy and it has been great. It gives her enough range of motion but allows me to keep her close if needed. Pretty easy-on and off after walks. The adjustment points have allowed me to fit it as she grows up and the ID pocket is a plus.

    No pull harness!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I actually have two of these for my dog! He's a 14 Lb chihuahua mix (we think maybe with mini greyhound or min-pin) so he is small but has a deep chest.

He wears the XX-Small for warmer days when there are no layers underneath. In order to fit his chest, the buckles are expanded to the max length. Now that it is getting colder out, he wears a fleece layer underneath the X-Small, which has a more secure fit. Neither fit is 100% perfect for his size, but definitely within comfortable range for walks around the neighborhood.

He pulls significantly less when we walk with the harness instead of his collar, and I feel better knowing he is more comfortable!

Great product, but the color fades

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've had this harness for over a year and it's a great piece of equipment so I don't choke my high energy dog on walks! My only complaint is that the color has faded significantly within a year. I started with a hot pink harness and it's now a pale pink. Either way - it's been a great product for me.

    Great harness!

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

We were worried our new furry friend wouldn't be comfortable in a harness but wanted it for hiking and he did great! He seems comfortable and tends to pull on his leash but he didn't pull at all with the harness. Would definitely recommend. We initially got a small and had to switch it out for a medium.

We have a small terrier mix who keeps pulling out of the harness we have her in, It is our second harness. Will this harness help keep her from escaping?

Hey Christina! Sounds like this would be a perfect harness for your pup. It's adjustable in just the right spots, so it will remain snug on her without restricting her movement. I'd highly recommend trying it out!
