Surfing doesn't stop for winter.
Steadily dropping water temps aren't enough to keep you out of the lineup when you're armed with the Rip Curl Men's Dawn Patrol 4/3 Chest-Zip Full Wetsuit. It has many of the same features as Rip Curl's high-end suits, but without the hefty price tag, so you can stay warm and comfortable while you surf without having to double down on your debt.
With Freeflex superstretch neoprene in the body and super-light, super-stretchy E4 neoprene in the arms, the Dawn Patrol offers excellent flexibility for unrestricted paddling and shredding. All seams are triple glued and double blindstitched to minimize water penetration, and E4 tape at critical stress points further enhances waterproofing and durability. The lock-slide chest-zip allows easy entry and exit, and the 3-hole drainage system allows excess water to escape.

Rip Curl Wetsuits for the win!
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
I have the older version of this and used it many times when I first got in to kayaking. I didn't have a dry top or splash jacket and just wore a rain coat.
As you can imagine, I got soaked every time even in water below 40 degrees F. It kept me warm regardless. I had a few swims that I would've had hypothermia if I hadn't had this on. Granted, in water that cold I wasn't comfortable but it really took the bite off.
As far as fit and quality I would rate Rip Curl a half step above O'Neil.

Nice wetsuit - Size chart a little off
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Checked both the Backcountry and Rip Curl size charts before deciding on a size. I'm 6'1" , 180 lbs, 34" waist, and based on the charts should wear an LT. It was way too tight and the torso a little short, so I exchanged it for an XL. The XL fits perfectly - plenty snug as a wetsuit should be. I wear an XL in other brands so in the end I'm not surprised. The wetsuit itself is exactly what I was looking for and looks like it will last a long time. I surf and SUP so I was wondering about the flexibility as a 4/3, but it's really not much different from a 3/2. Happy with the purchase!
