Details

Full throttle.

Built to speed through their namesake's infamous corkscrew en route to victory, the Ridley Laguna Seca Men's Bib Shorts bring race-ready fit and comfort to any day in the saddle. They're hand-crafted in sunny California by Eliel, a newbie to the cycling clothing gig that's quickly earned a reputation for high-quality fabrics and impeccable attention to construction and fit details.

Eliel uses a blend of Italian fabrics strategically paneled to provide just the right amount of supportive compression and stretchy freedom of motion, and it's all held together with flat seams to eliminate irritation. The leg bands are a light, soft, and grippy fabric that holds the shorts firmly in place without unsightly pinching or uncomfortable bunching. As a final touch, a CyTech 6 hour chamois provides long-mile comfort and moisture management so you can tackle coastal adventures and mountain epics with ease.

Nice kit!

  • Fit: True to size
  • Height: 5'11"
  • Weight: 164lbs

Purchased Medium bibs and Large Ridley Rincon Jersey . Bibs felt tight at first but it was different world on my bike.. Similar story with the jersey. Designed for riding not for walking. Nice fabrics with excellent stitching and superior padding. As I didn't know about this brand before I have to say "Nice work Eliel". I gave 4 stars only because I used the kit on one 30 miles ride(pave/gravel) so far. I was looking for bibs for long hilly rides and feel like I found it. And nice firm jersey to complete the kit. Sizing is personal and I'm right between "Runs Small/True to Size". I might order Large bibs in future. It depends how they feel after several 65miles+ /
5000ft +rides. I will review more then.

Great Fit

  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Medium
  • Height: 5'9"
  • Weight: 180lbs

Bought this together with the matching jersey (size L). Was little concerned that the bib would run small based on the jersey reviews. I have a 33-34 waist size and typically wear a size Medium in Castelli and other brands. Sure enough the Medium also fits well here. Like the jersey, form and fit are top notch. Non-restrictive with no odd seams. Length is a little bit on the longer side than other brands.

Initial Impressions

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: Large
  • Height: 5'10"
  • Weight: 155lbs

Brand new name in cycling apparel. Because of this, I was a bit wary of dropping pretty big bucks on this kit. Haven't worn the bibs on the bike yet, but chamois seems very well-placed, at least for me. It seems a tad thinner than some I've used, but also denser--a nice combination of anti-friction/pressure properties with minimal bulk. Cool graphics, too; just barely poised on the brink between tastefully bold vs. gaudy.

Hi Scoop! Looking at the sizing appears a large would have been comfy for you. Was it too short or too tight? Some bibs feel better once you're on the saddle and feel like crap when just walking around in them. I'm 5'8", 155 normally wear medium in all bibs and jerseys, except for Castelli bibs, they run small. Was looking at a med in the bibs for the Ridley.

Jorge: The Eliel bibs, at least in the large size, are longer than most; i.e. the legs' hems come down a little closer to the knee on my 33" inseam legs. Seems to be the style these days; not so great for flashing the quads, though! Can't have it all, I guess. So medium would probably work for you. As for comfort: great off the bike but have yet to ride in them. Why? Unlike the bibs, which are perfect in large (in keeping w/ size chart) the matching Maximus jersey's size for me (solidly falling under 'medium', as per chart) is ridiculously small. So size-up if you're looking at the jersey, too. Maybe even call CC to ask for actual width, armpit-to-armpit and shoulder to waistline. Not sure why all manufacturers and retailers don't do this as a matter of course, esp. since sizing standards are non-existent. Sigh.
