Why We Like The Iron Ranger Traction Tread Boot
Red Wing is known for their highly durable, workhorse boots that last, and that's what we get with the Iron Ranger Traction Tread Boot. Oil-tanned leather adds protection while the leather insole conforms to our foot's shape to become more comfortable the more we wear this boot. Vibram's 430 mini-lug sole won't crack and lose durability, and a steel shank increases stability and support.

I Love These Boots!
I have one other pair of Red Wings and they are 9016 Beckmans. The 8089s are my first pair of Iron Rangers. I love these Boots! The Oro Legacy leather is awesome and the wedge sole on these boots make them extremely comfortable (once they break in). These boots will be my go-to everyday boot.

Disappointing insole
Ive had these boots maybe a couple months. I bought them to wear daily as my work boots. The leather insoles have already come unglued from about the arch forward and are stretching and bunching up in the toe box. I’m extremely disappointed as for the price id hoped these would last me for years.

Comfortable footbed
I wear these everyday on concrete. I’ve hiked in them. Very comfortable. Much improved over previous iron rangers. New footbed is great. Break in is long but molded perfectly to me.

Awesome Comfy Iron Ranger, insole foot bed iffy
This is my 10th pair of Red Wings over the past 8-9 years. 9 Heritage and 1 work boot. I really love the cushion feel these provide, definitely diferent then normal Iron Rangers. Fit is dead on. I went down 1 full size from my sneaker size. I have a feeling these will be like my older 8084 and fit like a glove and super super comfy once broken in. The break in is still ongoing, I've only owned them for a week but after a few days the boots start to feel normal. Only compliant that I have and have a feeling it's to do with the new insole is my right is crunching up. I cannot feel it on the bottom of my foot, but hopefully it doesn't get any worse. See photos.

Toe bump shape is different
This is my first Red Wing, & the price is not cheap, but why toe bump / cap toe right & left shape is different? It is annoying, I feel like using different type of boot. How about inspection standards? Are they defect? Next time check the item before pay.

Exceedingly comfortable boots
Right off the bat these feel great, these will have a very short break-in period. They fit like regular Iron Rangers, of course, but the crepe soles afford a lot of give. The construction is high quality, as is to be expected, shoe laces are about 3" too short as usual with the Heritage boots. For the orange ones, the Care Guide says use boot oil - don't do that, use Leather Cream, as the other products will turn them a weird dark orange/red color.

Love hate
I started off loving these boots because the leather is so clean, then a little bit of grease or oil and they’re so ugly. After months of them being in the corner I had them cleaned at a local redwings and they look great factoring in my adding oil. Don’t let oil grease or any type of liquid touch these boots if you want them to stay the same. Sewing of the toe cap is a bit uneven but within tolerable measure.

Great boot .
I am originally a slightly wide size 9 and ordered a size 8 in the Iron Ranger Traction Tred boot. The size is spot on with extra wiggle room for my toes. So if you have wide feet order a half size smaller than your regular size if slightly wide to narrow I suggest a full size smaller than your regular size. Break in is pretty much the same as the Iron Ranger original. I wear them around the house like slippers for a week and a half to 2 weeks to soften them up. I also rub the inside with mink oil around the ankles and tongue. Solid boot . I only wish they had it in black with the Traction tred sole. They would kill the Danner moto boot with that. Just my opinion.

Is this new?
I just got these boots today, they are very nice, I noticed that the lining in the toe box area is canvas material not the sneaker like material, did Red Wing change this recently?

Nice Boots despite man-made parts.
Have had this for a little over a month and I wear them in my rotation about once per week. Compared to my round toes, these are more comfortable and the break in was easier; this is due to the man-made elements in the boot. Overall; longevity may be a little less than with a traditional 6-inch moc or iron ranger, but I still believe this boot is worth it's price and could bring Red Wing some new customers; people who are new to heritage boots and want an easy break-in with an iconic style.
