Horrible quality control

Second pair I've had to send back. Jodi1117 inspector is who approved these lol last time it took 14 pairs befthey got me a pair worth even keeping and even those the sole is all wavy. I ordered 1 more pair if they are no good I'm done with this company after over 25 years and I will go with Nicks. Sad to see american companies get like this.

It is the break-in tho...

Just keep in mind these boots weigh over 5lbs and are just broken in after 3 months. Outside that they are tanks, look great, and are the real deal quality wise.

Iron Ranger Copper

I have been a diehard Thorogood boot guy for years and wanted a more formal looking boot and got the copper rough and tough. This boot looks good hiking on a trail or in an office setting. Beautiful leather and after breaking them in I love these boots. Breaking the boots in was not miserable and I wore them in rotation with my other boots to prevent blisters etc. After a month they really get comfortable and I would buy another if they offered more colors in a 6.5. I sized down a full size.

Built to last… the best boot hands down!

My first pair of Iron Rangers lasted 14 years!! Just bought the 8085, what a great looking boot. As for the breaking in period, no issues. Been wearing them all day and have had no problems. I sized down 1 full size, and they fit perfect… thanks again Red Wing!

Beautiful boots

The Hawthorne roughout is great. I love that leather smell. Construction has been sturdy. Nothing came defective, and everything still looks good. These are my shitkicker boots, so I haven't babied them at all and they look great. That roughout really holds up. Thinking about buying the Slate roughout just to have them in another color

Very Inconsistent Finishing

I have to admit that one of my boots was made ALMOST flawlessly. But, the other boot (the left) was a mess. The welt was cut way too short. The leather on that same boot was quite thin, while the other boot's leather was up to par. Although I still think it (might) hold up, it annoys me that the texture, feel, and durability of the leather that is on my pair of boots are and will be completely different. To top it off, my mostly flawless (as in leather) right-side boot has a different issue. As in the outsole is starting to separate after ONE month of wear. Not kidding look at the photos. It's not anything too horrible, but you would expect almost perfect and flawless craftsmanship in such a premium-priced boot. I love to make jokes about left and right shoe factories and this boot definitely applies. Would not recommend.

Toe box wider on left boot.

Red Wing has a lot of Quality Control issues. Also, lucky to find size in inventory. Sad. They have a winner but keep losing due to forced errors.

Great Boot - Fits like a glove

I must admit I was skeptical buying a size 9 boot when I wear a 10 tennis shoe. And, for the first month or four of break in, I was wondering if they'd ever break in. But, when they did... WOW what comfort. I literally wear these the whole day. The sole wears amazingly well - still looks new after a few years. Highly recommend these boots. You will have them a long time. Worth the investment.

Speed hooks eating tongue.

Bought these Iron Rangers and really love them! Looks great and feels fine. Unfortunately, the speed hooks do bite into the tongue. Only had them for two weeks and worn four times. Wear is already visible on the tongue due to backing of speed hooks. Two of the hooks is easily rotated. Again, I really do love these boots and would like to keep it for years. Would hate to see holes in the tongue years down the line. Mainly on right shoe. QA could possibly catch these and machine press adjusted to make backing of hooks more flush? I am sure RW will address issue and please continue "Made in America"!

Speed hooks.

More of the same; great boots but the speed hooks have been destroying the tongue. Less than 6 months old and almost chewed through the entire tongue already. Clearly a manufacturing and / or QA/QC issue. Although with these many reviews talking about the speed hooks, I’d say it’s the former. Hopefully they fix this glaring issue to an incredibly comfortable and American made boot. Not sure what I’ll do yet. It’s really just a bummer.
