A fitted cargo pant with DWR coating for traveling or hiking.

Whether you're about to embark on an overseas plane ride or a short afternoon hike, rely on the comfort and stretch of the Prana Women's Meme Pant. Designed with stretchy Zion fabric (nylon and spandex) and a DWR finish, the Meme flexes comfortably while you stride over fallen tree trunks and won't get immediately soaked through from a light drizzle or occasional splash of water from your cup during a turbulent plane ride. Its fitted cut and low rise flatter your curves, while the Meme's numerous pockets supply plenty of places for your small essentials.

    • Nylon and spandex fabric blend
    • Fitted cut with low rise

    Perfect!

Got these for a friend - feedback below:
"These pants are great. The Zion stretch fabric is incredibly comfortable and versatile, and best of all for me it keeps you cool in hot weather. I love that prana makes active pants that are also stylish, I can wear these to work which I love. Like the other reviewers I found I had to size down a full size. But since I did they fit perfectly, I couldn’t be happier with these pants!”

    my favorite pant!

This pant is my go to activity pant. It can be worn as just a casual everyday pant, but it excels in the active outdoor world. these are my hiking pants, camping pants, climbing pants, my everything pants. The material is durable, dries quickly, and is tear resistant. I have put them through the wringer and they still look brand spanking new. The fit is awesome, however I would HIGHLY recommend you wear a belt with it. I'm a bit hippy and have a small waist. the legs fit awesome but the waist is a bit too big and i end up having to pull them up all day long if I don't wear a belt. with a belt they are seriously perfect. the cargo pockets on the legs are cute and very functional for all your smaller items or your phone. Get these! I get compliments on them every time I wear them.

    Stretches out SO MUCH

Honestly, I hate these pants which sucks because I would love a slim pair of hiking pants. I have an athletic frame, thick legs and a smaller waist. I normally wear a 6, but sized up to avoid choking my legs. Fits a little loose on the waist, but that was ok. Turns out - not ok! The waist on these stretch out A LOT while you're wearing them. To the point someone could easily pull my pants down with the zipper and button still fastened. To the point I could pull the waist away from my body and look like a weight loss advertisement. Maybe I should've ordered a 6 and it would've stretched out to what I needed? For now - I'm not a fan.

    Almost perfect, but...

I'm a longtime fan of Prana's Halle hiking pants (I've collected every color over the years) - thought I'd give the Meme a try for a more stylish look. They have the same great fabric as the Halle, comfortable for large range of motion climbing, while rugged to withstand abrasion. They also have the same figure-flattering fit, but with one major exception: they don't have the internal waistband drawcord that Halle has to provide a custom fit and eliminate any gapping at the waist. I usually carry my water in a waist-pack, so adding a belt isn't a good option for me.
Prana - Why not add the drawcord? I'd buy the Meme in every color!

Quote from my girlfriend- "My boyfriend begged me to ditch the yoga pants and finally try some hiking pants. I was so hesitant because, while I love outdoor activities, I also like to feel good in what I wear and hiking pants never look that appealing on me. After a long search, we settled on this pair and I couldn't be more happy! They make a huge difference in outdoor activities. I wear them out and about and also can wear them when climbing and hiking. They are SOO comfy. I am an hourglass shape, so they are a little loose around my waist, but fit perfectly everywhere else."

Paper thin but a good buy

I got these pants to use commuting to and from work on my bike. I like the DWR coating, it’s really a blessing on days where it’s raining lightly or the ground is wet, it helps with any splashing. My biggest complaint is the pants are paper thin and the material is very ‘swishy.’ I have to wear tights under them. The fit is okay, I know they are branded for hiking and not cycling, but I feel they are very tight in the calves and loose in the hips, I don’t think a smaller size would be any better. Overall, I like the design and they work (with a belt) for my use. I’d wear them casually if the material they’re made of didn’t swish so much.

      Love these pants!

I tried these pants in two sizes and decided to keep the larger of the two. I agreed with the other reviewers that they do run a tag big, however I purchased these pants to use as active wear and I wanted to have more movement in them. The smaller size fit slightly snug and looked amazing(!), however I didn't have as much movement in them. They do seem to stretch initially, but the seams don't have a lot of give. Also, I must say that Backcountry has insanely fast shipping, and the customer service is spectacular!

      Stretches out in a year

I'm really torn on these pants. The initial fit is super fabulous, the most beautiful active pants I've ever purchased, stretchy for climbing, and sleek for citywear. They were one of two pants I wore dirtbagging, and one year later the waist and pockets have stretched out 8 sizes too big and are baggy to the point that they're too large to even wear with a belt. The pocket buttons start to fall off a month or two in.

I'd expect more durability from prana. If you have a full closet and rotate these in occasionally, they're excellent. If you wear them every day, you'll have to buy a new pair every couple of months.

      they fit alright

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I bought a 0 since most outdoor pants run really large. I am 5'4, and almost 110 lbs. Waist is big, and doesn't seem to be able to tighten without a belt. The thighs fit great but calves feel a bit tight, and I have pretty skinny calves. This leads to really wrinkly fabric around the knees, and it looks weird... maybe I am just being too self conscious :)

But it works great at climbing. Could be a little more stretchy though.

This is a great pant. My husband and I are going to Scotland in October and I bought these pants with the intention of layering long underwear underneath. As a major gear head and fashionista, I couldn't stand the idea of giving up fashion OR comfort. These pants fit the bill. I have loads of ski gear but nothing for cold weather hiking. I haven't worn them yet, but I have certainly tried them on. I would say that I have a slightly narrow-average body type. My hips aren't very wide but I have a booty. All these details are shared to let others with similar body types know that this pant fits me great. It is also a pant that stretches and allows for range of movement. I think the Meme pant looks great and I can't wait to try them out soon! Prana is a favorite brand of mine... can't recommend highly enough.

They are awesome for climbing in as well as daily wearing.
The pants tend to stretch so I wouldnt get a bigger size than normal. I am 115 lb and 5'4" size 2 is a bit on bigger size but 0 works excellent

I have a pair of skinny cargo pants I purchased YEARS ago at Target and have been looking for something similar ever since. These MEME pants are WAY WAY better. I'm 5'7 and they're a great length. They come up high enough that I'm never worried when I bend over. I love these for hiking, backpacking, camping, casual everyday. I have already purchased in multiple colors. They're my new favorite pant of all time. I get so many questions when I wear them too and am always telling people they NEED these in their life. Totally worth the money.

      why so short?

I love the way these pants are designed, but they are ridiculously short. I have long legs, but am by no means an Amazon woman. Would love to see these come out in a (much) longer inseam. I've been wearing them as capris. Aside from the length problem, they are very flattering and the pockets are practical and nice to have. I do feel like they are a little bit too big at the waist... they fit perfectly fine everywhere else, but are strangely spacious at the waist. I was also expecting a bit more stretch out of these, I can't imagine climbing in them. However, for going to work/casual hiking they are great. They fit true to Prana sizing. I wear a 2/4 in all other pants, but a 0 in Prana.

      Not what I expected unfortunately!

      • Weight: 155lbs

To start, I'm a bit over 6'1 at 155 lbs and typically a size 6. I'm used to inseams always being short on me and I was figuring I'd roll them up to climb or be wearing them with tall hiking boots anyways so that wasn't a complaint. The 6 fit very well and it's an attractive style. Skinny at the bottom but not too constricting. The side pocket placement is also a great look (I wasn't fond of the double foldover buttons though, not exactly quick & easy access).

What I'm super bummed about is that I literally couldn't move in them. They weren't too small, they just don't stretch AT ALL. I couldn't even fully bend my knee. After seeing photos of women climbing in them, I'm just super confused. The seam above the knee is also super awkward and seems to serve no other purpose than to constrict movement even further.

Even if I were to keep these just for looks, the lack of range of motion is just so uncomforatble, I felt like I was waddling just to walk.

I LOVE my Kara jeans - which I can climb in. My husband has many pairs of Prana pants in this more tactical fabric that are soft and stretchy. The Memes are just way off for me. :(

Jules!!... I just ordered these pants and found the exact same thing. I wanted to love them, they seemed pretty stretchy and comfy, but as soon as I squatted or picked my leg up... same thing you describe!! AND this is the problem I seem to run in to with all pants. Have you found any pants like this (skinny or not) that don't do this??

      Perfection

Ordered these pants for a trip to Costa Rica at the end of the month. Read many reviews, checked them out in a store, and ordered a size 0 instead of my usual 2P. I am 4'11, small build but runner's thighs. I was a little skeptical about ordering a regular size (no petites available in this model). They looked tiny when I got them out of the box, but surprisingly, not too long. Tried them on and they just simply worked for me. Right away, no second thoughts. Great fit, comfy feel. Love the tactical look, the lightweight, technical fabric, the flattering skinny legs, the rugged but stylish look. Glad I ordered a size down, as many people seemed to recommend. These pants are incredibly cute and sexy. Can't wait to take them through my summer travels.

I hope I always own at least one pair.

I owned a pair of these pants in green for five years and despite consistent wear during farm work and camping, they are still in great shape. They run quite large though, so eventually I had to admit that they no longer fit me at all and opted for a size down. The next size worked, but I still could've gotten an even smaller size. They really stretch out and the waist seems disproportionally wide compared to the tightness of the legs. These pants are great for working outside in the rain. The black is a bit faded, so don't expect a really dark, sleek color.

      Cute/comfy, room for improvement

I wear a size 2 in most pants but 0 in Prana and the waist on their 0 is still a little too big. I'm not a stick figure either, I have a trail runner booty. The tech specs read as 32" inseam for size 4. The 0 is a touch too short for my long legs but doable. They're very comfortable, practical for hiking or trail running on a cooler day but stylish enough I could wear them to work or a lunch date. Great amount of pockets but be warned you cannot get more than your fingers in the front hip pockets and the buttons on the back and cargo pockets are next to impossible to button.

I absolutely love these pants. I purchased them for climbing and hiking and they're perfect for just that. Plus, stylish enough that you can wear them whenever. I'm usually a size 4-6 so I got the size 6 in these and it fits like a glove. They do stretch out a little bit as you wear them so keep that into consideration. Prana can do no wrong.

Does anyone know if this (2015) season's Meme pant still has the seam across the top of the lower thigh? It looks that way from the picture, but I am hoping they've loosened the seam or somehow made it more stretchy like the rest of the pant. I loved the fit of last year's but couldn't move as much as I wanted in it because the seam restricted the stretchiness of the material.
