Defective / Prana is a Terrible Company

I bought these pants for a trip to Japan. I put them in the washer to remove wrinkles and soften the fabric and the pants ripped. I hadn't even worn them. The wash cycle was set to DELICATES and were not put in the dryer. I contacted BackCountry who told me to reach out to Prana. The company claimed that the rips are from "wear and tear" and will not honor the manufacturer warranty. The pants didn't "tear" but had the strangest, cleanest rip (I checked my washer and there were no signs of tearing like loose threads). It was my first purchase of Prana clothing and the company refused to exchange it or offer any kind of discount. There are so many other outdoor brands out there with better customer service.

I like the Halle II pants a lot better than the Halle I pants. The cut of the pockets are more flattering and the fit is better. The material also seems better in the Halle II. I got the slate green color and love it. Though great for hiking, I think they could be nice for most occasions.

these pants fit me very nicely. I wear them on day hikes and I also wear them as casual pants on an active day so very versatile. easy to wash - I hang dry but not necessary. colors are great - they seem to match all my clothing

They Changed the Product

The Halle Pants were always my GO-TO. I bought them every time I saw them on-sale anywhere! The material was durable, rugged, and lasted for ages, while still looking crisp and clean. I bought the current version of these pants and the material has changed. It is kind of shiny, the cut fits different. In the same size I normally get, the pants are shorter. The buttons have changed, and the material pills. So the newest Halle Pants that I have, now look like the oldest. Not so happy with these changes.

Almost perfect!

I wear the Halle I to work, but they are always sagging because of the lower cut. The Halle II are a much higher rise (not crazy high, but higher than the Halle I). However, I am straight and slender, but carry my weight in the middle. These dug in just enough to give me a bit of a muffin top. They MIGHT'VE stretched out a bit and been ok, but I returned them. The rest of the pant was great though. I really liked the more normal sized pockets on the Halle II (the pockets on the Halle I are literally uselessly small). I think these would work great for ladies that have a more normal waist than I do.

Exchanged the Halle II Pant for the Halle II Straight pant. Both are probably great, but the straight pant is the one for me. Thanks Backcountry for the awesome customer service!! True to size or maybe a tad big, for those on the fence.

I love the Halle II pants. The size 8 fit wonderfully weight and height. I am 5'11" 135 lbs. with a 30 inch waist. I also love the cinch string on the inside of the pant that helps the waistband better fit the curve of your waist. Very well made!

Inconsistent Sizing Among Colors

I have multiple pairs of the original Halle's that I love, but wanted a little higher waist so I tried the Halle II. The cut of the Halle II is roomier overall, I had to go down two sizes. However, fit seems to be dependent on the color. Slate Green fits perfectly so when I found Sandbar on sale at Backcountry I ordered two pairs. Unfortunately I need to return them because they are cut about 1/2-1" smaller than the Green. For reference, I am 5'2", 118 lbs. I wear 4S in Original Halle and 0S in Halle II.

Halle II Pant vs Halle II Straight Pant

These are not the same. That said, the 28" inseam short on the straight pant and the 30" inseam short on the non-straight version fit the same. I needed a size smaller than usual.

I recently purchased 3 more pairs of these pants in Sandbar, Slate Green and Moonrock to replace a previous generation's fleet of green, dark blue and khaki. These newer pants feel softer, yet seem equally as durable so far. I like the new features like the slot in back pocket for a pen- great for field work. The zipper pulls are easier to grab. The pant leg roll up buttons are only on the outside of the leg, which means there aren't nubbins rubbing against the inside of your knee. My older pairs, going on 5-6 years now, are now strictly outdoor pants for hiking, rock climbing and chopping firewood, as they're still hanging in quite well for the wear they've had. I always air dry these pants, never in the dryer, and that has lengthened their elastic lifespan. These pants are great for work, around town, physical therapy, etc. I lived in Seattle and walked everywhere in the rain and loved how they didn't get sopping wet like other pants, and they dry fairly quickly. They also breathe well during activity in warmer months, climates. They fit well, are flattering and practical for someone with a more muscular and active build like myself- stronger thighs and butt, longer legs. So grateful for being able to feel good wearing a pair of pants made for active, strong women.
