With respect to other reviewers, I think this is a somewhat under-rated product. In summary, if you wanted to have poc's "Air"-level protection all-around + a beefier (eg "Air+") back, this is as close as you get. Comparing to the Spine 2 Jacket (vpd 2 back) and the VPD Tee (air back + air elbows).. VPD Tee (long sleeve version with no chest or shoulder protection) has an "Air" back, 3-layer thinner layers, ~360g, all perforated. VPD Air Tee (this one) has an "Air+" back, 3 thicker layers, ~550g, less perforations in the center. VPD Spine 2 jacket is an even beefier, VPD 2 back. Weirdly, the velcro piece for the cummerbund is there on this Air Tee, but it doesn't come in the package. Shoulders are certainly better fitting on the VPD Spine. Spine uses the vpd2 molded material, VPD Air Tee (this one) uses the same thing as air knee and elbows, eg a cut sheet (not molded). VPD Tee (long sleeve) has no shoulder protection. Chest plate here is a a single thicker layer, certainly less beefy (but also much lighter) than the chest on Spine 2. It's very wearable just-in-case. If the shoulders fit ok, this seems like it could work for a lot of people. I sent back the Spine 2, it is beautiful and not much more relatively speaking but too heavy duty for me. Long-sleeve VPD Tee is really a great XC thing, with light back, air elbows, and three huge stash pockets. I'll probably keep this Air Tee for DH in combination with separate air elbows, though will swap in the lighter back from the long-sleeve. Can confirm that there are no arm grippers, unfortunately.
