Obex Spin Communication Helmet

Like the original but with a boost, the POC Obex Spin Communication Helmet delivers comfort, confidence, and the easy ability to communicate with the squad while you're ripping around the resort. Built with the Obex AID Communication Ear Pads, you can talk to your friends with the press of a button, and it also delivers high quality sound if you decide to add some tunes to your runs.

The Obex Spin Communication Helmet utilizes POC's SPIN (Shearing Pad INside) technology to decrease the amount of force to your head during impact. It works by allowing the helmet to move relative to your head, allowing rotational movement that reduces the amount of energy that could otherwise continue through your skull.

Besides offering innovative impact protection, the Obex Spin is designed to be lightweight and fully featured for long days on the snow. It's easily adjustable so you don't have to add and remove padding to get a secure, comfortable fit, and the sliding top vent ensures you can let some warm air out when the day starts to heat up. POC also added front vents to let moist air out of your goggles, preventing the annoying ordeal of fogging just as you're dropping into fresh snow.

Poor Construction

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I purchased two POC Obex Spin Communication Helmets prior to the season with the hopes of enjoying music on the mountain while being wire free. Unfortunately, this was a disappointment. After a month on the mountain, both helmets have already been replaced. The bluetooth hub on one of the helmets broke off on the first day of use, and the second helmet constantly disconnected from device it was connected to via bluetooth. I know this is currently the one of the only bluetooth helmets on the market, and clearly the technology is not there yet. I would also like to mention that I previously had the POC fornix prior to this purchase and it was infinitely more comfortable. I know each helmet and head are different, but I believe it is something that should be noted.

poor construction

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

To start I will say this - I was hit from behind from another skier at the beginning of the season and my POC helmet saved my head from injury and I am grateful for that - this review concerns the helmets construction and shortfalls. This is the first bad review I have written for a brand new POC product that I bought from backcountry ( and now I can't return or have it repaired) so here's what I have to say. This review regards the way the ear piece attaches to the helmet - the small plastic connector between the ear piece and the helmet broke. The issue is how the ear pieces attach to the helmet body - there is a very thin and somewhat flimsy fork flange of plastic that anchors the floating ear piece to the helmet and the rest of the work is done by the fabric of the chin straps - the plastic connector broke during regular use and the ear piece is floating on the straps.....and now I cant return it or have it repaired. In addition my head is a XXL and even though the size is listed as XL/XXL you should try one on in the store to make sure it is a comfortable fit. The bluetooth feature and headphone/speaker works well and the sliding vent on top is great

Great Integration!

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

This is one of the best helmets out there. Great ventilation and room around the ears even with the comms. Works perfect with my iphone 11 and sounds great.

So far, so good!

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I've only worn it once so far, but so far, so good. I wanted a new helmet to replace my 10+ years old helmet. I wanted one that fits, looks good and most importantly safe. Overall, I really like it. One tiny complaint, it seems a bit snug behind and under my ears, despite being a great fit everywhere else. I am hopeful, with time, that it will "wear in" and be a perfect fit. Not really into listening to music while skiing, but I like having the ability to receive calls while on the slopes and not need to take my phone out. It's my first POC purchase, but if it continues to do the job, then I would certainly make future POC purchases.

Great Sound and Quality Protection

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

I've had this helmet for a few days on the hill so far and I've been most impressed by the sound quality, the battery life, and it's ease of use. Fortunately, I haven't had the opportunity to test out the SPIN technology, but it's comfortable and I'm confident it has me protected. Innovative product from a very reputable company.

So comfy!

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

I took this out for the first time this year, I loved it, it was pretty warm, the fit was spot on, even with the vents open it was quiet, Learning about the technical side of POC, I understand helmets much better. Pick one up you won't hate!

My head measured 58cm. I ordered a M/L ibex spin communication helmet, but it feels too tight. I wonder if the XL/XXL is too loose for 58cm head size?
