Platypus Quickdraw 3L Gravity Filter System

The multi-compatible QuickDraw 3L Gravity Filter System is the most versatile ultralight gravity filter on the market. Able to convert from a gravity system to a squeeze setup when you want it, it can do it all with your preferred bottles and reservoirs. At the core of the system is the iconic fast-flowing hollow fiber QuickDraw Filter. The 3L dirty reservoir’s hang handle makes for quick-and-easy hang-ups and is sized for comfortable carrying when it’s full. The handle easily detaches to make compressing and rolling the reservoir down hassle-free when you opt for squeeze filtering. The QuickDraw filter can attach to many different bottles and reservoirs with its I/O (inner/outer) threads on the dirty side and the ConnectCap™ on the clean side. For added versatility, the system’s hose is fitted with a quick connector that attaches to any hydration reservoir with a quick disconnect, as well as clicking into the QuickDraw’s Bottle Adapter. The Bottle Adapter is multi-compatible and vented, meaning common hard-sided wide-mouth bottles and narrow-mouth bottles are all game to hold your freshly filtered water. The system is built to be safe, effortless, and long-lasting. Two cleaning methods—shake-to-clean and backflushing—keep the filter flowing fast throughout your trip, while the Integrity Check process allows you to ensure it’s still safely filtering water. If there ever was one, the QuickDraw 3L Gravity Filter System is the one backcountry water filter that does it all.

Decent Filter

Filter is decent but the dirty bag reservoir is trash. Handle broke making it dang near unusable.

Great Filter, Terrible Bag

I had the old Gravity Works filter system for like 10 years, until finally I broke the filter. It was great. Went to the store to grab a replacement filter, only to find out they changed the whole system, so have to buy a whole new system, rather than just a replacement filter. Fine. The old one was great, the updated version must be even better! Took it on my first backpacking trip this past weekend, dip the dirty bag into the lake to fill it up. It is nearly impossible to fill the bag through the tiny hole, so I get maybe 2/3 a bag full of water. In the process of filling it, the hanging handle breaks off. This bag is awful. Complete downgrade from the old one, which is unusable. I hate this thing. The filter works well and extremely quickly. Great filter. The bag sucks. And now I have to figure out how to dry it through the tiny hole rather than the wide mouth opening on the old system? I hate this. Next time I look for a filter I'll start with other brands.

Handled pulled off on first use

The handle pulled off on the first day of use. This was scary as we were counting on the filter for a 9-day trip in the Boundary Waters. However, we were able to be creative and find ways to use the filter by holding it, placing it on rocks, etc. (see the pic). The filter was fast and did not clog during the trip. We did not backwash, only used the shaking method to clear the filter. I estimate that we filtered about 80L of water. Note: the filter doesn't remove all the tannins, the water still had color. You would need a filter with carbon to remove all the color.

Dirty reservoir HUGE letdown

*I have tried to contact costumer support twice now, over 3.5 weeks with no response, confirmation #00279853* I’ve had the original 4L GravityWorks since 2016. Bought this one last month. 1. Just like all the other reviews, the handle comes unglued after the first hang. Count on it. Why they decided to stray from the metal rivets on the original hang bag is beyond me. Those never failed. 2. In addition, there are no marks on the 3L bag to indicate 1L, 2L, or 3L. It’s a little thing but is really nice. 3. We now have to fill (and later dry) the bag with a little opening, rather than a large one. Why? Now filling and drying take longer. 4. You are now required to use this horrible rendition of a platy bag to use the filter (which is fantastic) because they have their own unique thread attachment to the dirty side of the filter. That being said, and the only reason why I don’t drop Platypus entirely at this point, is because the new filter seems to be really great. Just used it for an entire month of backpacking and loved the filter. It’s even better than the original (which is now extremely expensive). Great filter, horrible updated dirty bag….thiiis close to leaving Platypus after 10+ years.

Great Filter, Bag not so much

Handle ripped off first use, thankfully had a few CNOC bags to utilize instead of OEM bag. I had several quick draws for a large group trip, and flowrates were exceptional from all. If they got the bag right, would be a great setup.

Read the Reviews folks

I did read the reviews, and though, "one or two folks with broken straps... can't be systemic." It is. Second time I hung the bag the strap broke. Get's an extra star for how fast the flow is, but holding the bag up over and over again is a deal breaker.

Adhesive fails and handle for 3L dirty water bag falls off during first use.

I've purchased two of these in the last 6 weeks and the adhesive which attaches the handle to the dirty water bag comes apart during the first time hanging the bag. The second one failed on the first day of a two week fly-in remote back country canoe trip. I notified platypus on my return but havent had a response.

Works but strap broke with first use.

My paddling partner purchased one of these for a Boundary Waters trip to use for group water at camp. While the filter itself worked the entire time, one side of the handing loop broke off the reservoir the first time we hung it up - just like the other reviewer here. I don't know why they decided to glue the strap to the bag, instead of hard mount it. Seems like a silly oversight for something that's supposed to hold 6.6+ lbs of weight regularly. Other than having to rig up a hanging system, the filter itself worked smooth and surprisingly quick. I think we back flushed it twice on a 5 day trip. Unscrewing the filter from the bag only takes about a 1/4 turn, which made refills that much faster. Overall, it works, and the rest of the design/usage is pretty great, but the strap really needs to be more durably mounted to the bag.
