IKO Core Headlamp
The Petzl IKO Core Headlamp is hyperlight and extremely packable so you can take it on alpine treks, rock or ice climbs, trail runs, or easy-going camping trips. Its AirFit headband is semi-rigid and packs small, and the rear, rechargeable Core battery boasts up to 100 hours burn time. Despite its ultralight, minimalist-minded design, the LEDs pack a blindingly 500 lumen power, and it can adjust via one singe button for easy use. There are locking functions so the headlamp doesn't turn on in your pack. Petzl included a clever storage pouch that transforms the headlamp into a lantern for the alpine bivvy.

Dies if you insert battery wrong way
The new headlamp just died on me. Unless it was a coincidence, it happened when I've inserted new batteries wrong way... In either case, the batteries case is not obviously designed and replacing battery outdoors becomes a challenging task. Especially, when using AAA batteries. Other than this, the headlamp is really comfortable etc.

Too small for larger heads

This lamp seemed ideal for my needs of brighter coverage and helmet compatibility, but it's just too small. I wear a 7 5/8" hat size, and was disappointed to see that over even a thin winter cap this will not work out. Three stars for not fitting all sizes (nor offering a size that fits), and another lost on the battery closure. The feel and fit of the cover just doesn't match what I expect from an all-weather piece of gear.

bright as heck and nicely flexible

No more worries about meeting unexpected animals at night; that's for sure. This fits well - not completely comfy and stays put - holds a long charge, and is bright, bright, bright.

I've been using my new IKO Core for a few weeks now and it's my new favorite headlamp. You hardly notice you are wearing it because it doesn't have an elastic headband and it stays super secure and stable while running. The light quality is super clear with no shadows or blind spots. Easy to adjust and recharges quickly between uses. I like the lockout feature for when I am storing it in the diffuser bag which also works as a lantern when you're camping.

Truly revolutionary the way the air-fit headband fits on your head. I have a tiny head and was impressed with the range of adjustability. I've seen it on a huge head and on my tiny head and it fits comfortably on both occasions. I love the recharge-ability and can carry an extra Core battery for longer missions! I already have many core batteries from other Petzl headlamps, so I don't even need to buy a new one! I love the lantern feature with the diffuser bag and it works well hanging around my neck at camp or hiking. Reinventing the wheel! Nice work Petzl!!
