    Actik Headlamp

The Petzl Actik Headlamp packs 300 lumens of illumination into a lightweight design that's ideal for hiking, climbing, and navigating after sunset. Since it only weighs 3.2 ounces, you'll barely even notice it's on your head. The hybrid design runs on three AAA batteries (included) or Petzl's Core rechargeable battery (sold separately). Battery life is an impressive 60 hours at full blast and an astounding 400 hours using red lighting modes.

Regular and wide beams provide versatility for a wide variety of outdoor activities, illuminating distances up to 90 meters away in pitch darkness. Red lighting modes prevent eye strain when you're reading maps after dark and sorting through gear in your tent. Also, there's a red strobe for alerting rescue personnel in emergency situations.

    • Packs 300 lumens into a lightweight, compact design
    • Wide and regular beams aide in navigation after dark
    • Lighting modes: low, regular, bright, red, red strobe
    • 3 AAA batteries last 60 hours on full blast (included)
    • Works with Petzl Core rechargeable battery (not included)

    Feels Like A Toy

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I am a little bummed on this light. I've always loved my Petzl products with this light being my first exception. It feels cheap, like something I would give my kids to go camping with, or leave in the glove box in case of emergencies, not a piece of GEAR. Little things are off, like no padding on the back of the light housing for my forehead and a super stiff strap. The controls are nice and simple, and the ability to add the rechargeable battery pack is nice. For the same price though, I much prefer my Black Diamond Storm. It offers a much better package including true water resistance, more light features, and has become my go to headlamp.

    Great headlight

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is a great light. The brightness at the highest setting is better than other lights I have owned, including several BlackDiamond headlights. It's easy to switch between lighting modes. Battery access is not hard either, and does not require fingernails of steel. I used it on a Ragnar relay running at night and it stays on your head really well, minimal bouncing and no stops to adjust the tightness of the strap. The only downside is that the light itself tends to dig into my forehead, but this is true regardless of what brand you buy.

    Great Headlamp

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Had a few petzl headlamp in my life and this one is another great addition. Super bright when you need it to be but also able to lower the brightness to extend battery life.

    Simple and Bright

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This headlamp is a quality one all around. Super easy to use, no strange bells or whistles, bright enough for just about any activity and lightweight and compact so it doesn't get in the way. Would definitely recommend if you're looking for a classic that will always work well.

Turn the clocks back at night

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Love the fact that this has 3 different light settings. Super lightweight and compact but packs a punch with tons of light. 10 out of 10 would recommend to anyone. Used it in an area that was pitch dark and could see everything I wanted

    Tikka Upgrade

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

The Actik is the next significant step up above the Tikka headlamp. There is definitely a significant difference in lumens/ brightness. I decided to go with this Actik headlamp as opposed to my Tikka headlamp when going on a sunrise hike beginning in the pitch black, and it was definitely necessary as was teetering over rocks on the saddle in the dark. This model is great, but the sister Actik Core model uses rechargeable batteries which is a nice feature, so I would probably invent in the Core model over this!

    Simple and effective headlamp

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

The brightness on this headlamp is perfect for a dark camping trip or searching for something when the power goes out. The strap is not the most comfortable in the world if you wear for an extended period of time, but worth the price point.

    Solid headlamp

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Simple and effective. I was using the Black Diamond Storm prior to this but I lost her while crossing a river. Pros to the Petzl are : light weight, simple controls, plenty bright for anything you can get into. Cons are: Not as comfortable as the Storm, wouldn’t want any water near it, and not as many lighting options as the storm. Overall though I am happy with it and for the price I think it’s a great deal.

    Gets it right

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is the first headlamp I haven't hated. Petzl has kept it simple, and absolutely nailed the key features.

    - Like any reputable brand headlamp in this price range, it's bright; comfortable; light; and has the features you need for hiking/camping/climbing/skiing/etc.
    - Love the rechargeable Core battery pack, saves me so many AAAs
    - But also takes AAAs!
    - Low/Med/Bright settings are fast to deploy and good enough; unlike tap-hold-waaaaaaait of my old headlamp
    - Has yet to turn itself on in my pack, no need for a lock feature. (My old headlamp would regularly unlock, turn on, and run itself all the way down.)

Can't go wrong with this one!

    Bright Light

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This thing packs a punch. For how small and lightweight it is it sure can light up the dark. This is the perfect headlamp for backpacking and camping.

    Lightweight and bright

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Three different levels of brightness ranging from a good low-light to super bright, also a red night setting. Lightweight all around good headlamp

    Sweet headlamp

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This headlamp is a great size and super bright. I use it mostly when i'm camping to navigate in the dark. The headlamp has an easy adjustable strap to get a comfortable fit and it has three different levels of brightness which is great. Overall very impressed so far with this headlamp and I am pleased with my purchase.

    Just Right

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This head lamp isn't too big, or too small its just right for a bunch of different activities. I can use it to work on my car, get around the camp site, and its bright enough for other active pursuits.

The plastic shell does feel thin and basic but the trade off is that its lighter weight. There is a plastic emergency whistle on the back strap just in case something happens. A reflective logo has been included on the headband to make the wearer more visible, but if that's not your style you can get the Petzl Tactikka, which has almost the same amount of lumens with a more stealthy design. The Item overall feels fairly sturdy as if it will last awhile as long as its not abused too much.

Quick note: The colors on the site are an exact match to what you should expect in person.
