    Deceivingly bright.

The Petzl Actik Headlamp packs 300 lumens of illumination into a lightweight design that's ideal for hiking, climbing, and navigating after sunset. Since it only weighs 3.2 ounces, you'll barely even notice it's on your head. The hybrid design runs on three AAA batteries (included) or Petzl's Core rechargeable battery (sold separately). Battery life is an impressive 60 hours at full blast and an astounding 400 hours using red lighting modes.

Regular and wide beams provide versatility for a wide variety of outdoor activities, illuminating distances up to 90 meters away in pitch darkness. Red lighting modes prevent eye strain when you're reading maps after dark and sorting through gear in your tent. Also, there's a red strobe for alerting rescue personnel in emergency situations.

    • Packs 300 lumens into a lightweight, compact design
    • Wide and regular beams aide in navigation after dark
    • Lighting modes: low, regular, bright, red, red strobe
    • 3 AAA batteries last 60 hours on full blast (included)
    • Works with Petzl Core rechargeable battery (not included)

    Simple and Bright

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This headlamp is a quality one all around. Super easy to use, no strange bells or whistles, bright enough for just about any activity and lightweight and compact so it doesn't get in the way. Would definitely recommend if you're looking for a classic that will always work well.

Turn the clocks back at night

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Love the fact that this has 3 different light settings. Super lightweight and compact but packs a punch with tons of light. 10 out of 10 would recommend to anyone. Used it in an area that was pitch dark and could see everything I wanted

    Tikka Upgrade

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

The Actik is the next significant step up above the Tikka headlamp. There is definitely a significant difference in lumens/ brightness. I decided to go with this Actik headlamp as opposed to my Tikka headlamp when going on a sunrise hike beginning in the pitch black, and it was definitely necessary as was teetering over rocks on the saddle in the dark. This model is great, but the sister Actik Core model uses rechargeable batteries which is a nice feature, so I would probably invent in the Core model over this!

    Simple and effective headlamp

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

The brightness on this headlamp is perfect for a dark camping trip or searching for something when the power goes out. The strap is not the most comfortable in the world if you wear for an extended period of time, but worth the price point.

    Solid headlamp

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Simple and effective. I was using the Black Diamond Storm prior to this but I lost her while crossing a river. Pros to the Petzl are : light weight, simple controls, plenty bright for anything you can get into. Cons are: Not as comfortable as the Storm, wouldn’t want any water near it, and not as many lighting options as the storm. Overall though I am happy with it and for the price I think it’s a great deal.

    Gets it right

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is the first headlamp I haven't hated. Petzl has kept it simple, and absolutely nailed the key features.

    - Like any reputable brand headlamp in this price range, it's bright; comfortable; light; and has the features you need for hiking/camping/climbing/skiing/etc.
    - Love the rechargeable Core battery pack, saves me so many AAAs
    - But also takes AAAs!
    - Low/Med/Bright settings are fast to deploy and good enough; unlike tap-hold-waaaaaaait of my old headlamp
    - Has yet to turn itself on in my pack, no need for a lock feature. (My old headlamp would regularly unlock, turn on, and run itself all the way down.)

Can't go wrong with this one!

    Bright Light

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This thing packs a punch. For how small and lightweight it is it sure can light up the dark. This is the perfect headlamp for backpacking and camping.

    Lightweight and bright

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Three different levels of brightness ranging from a good low-light to super bright, also a red night setting. Lightweight all around good headlamp

    Sweet headlamp

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This headlamp is a great size and super bright. I use it mostly when i'm camping to navigate in the dark. The headlamp has an easy adjustable strap to get a comfortable fit and it has three different levels of brightness which is great. Overall very impressed so far with this headlamp and I am pleased with my purchase.

    Just Right

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This head lamp isn't too big, or too small its just right for a bunch of different activities. I can use it to work on my car, get around the camp site, and its bright enough for other active pursuits.

The plastic shell does feel thin and basic but the trade off is that its lighter weight. There is a plastic emergency whistle on the back strap just in case something happens. A reflective logo has been included on the headband to make the wearer more visible, but if that's not your style you can get the Petzl Tactikka, which has almost the same amount of lumens with a more stealthy design. The Item overall feels fairly sturdy as if it will last awhile as long as its not abused too much.

Quick note: The colors on the site are an exact match to what you should expect in person.

    Solid Product

Bought a pair of these, one for the car, and one for everything else. This is a good offering from Petzl. Seems plenty bright. The red light setting is great for saving your night vision or for when you're trying to avoid illuminating the entire camp while finding a tree in the middle of the night.

      I expect better from Petzl

I purchased to replace a Tikka Plus that was lost. Not a fan of the switch - switching the red light from On to Off does not seem possible without cycling through the flashing mode. Sometimes it works, but only if I consciously count to 5 before turning it off. I went to REI to check on their display model, and it too does this. It also seems that the band is not robust enough. The light feels like it want to flop forward. I think Petzl missed the target on this one.

        Love It

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Been years since I updated from my last Petzl headlamp and this one is even better. Red light makes a huge addition, and the dual white light for lower/brighter settings is a great addition.

        Brighter than necessary

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I really love my Petzl Actik headlight. There has yet to be a time that I needed it brighter, but when toned down the battery life is exceptional. I am going to upgrade the battery to the Petzl Core to give it rechargability, but other than that for a headlamp that just gets the job done with no bells and whistles, the Actik has done everything I have asked of it.
