    Drains Battery FAST!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Other than in-camp usage, there's only one real setting on this light that's usable, and that's the highest setting. Unfortunately, you'll drain either the included battery pack, or 3 AAAs FAST - a few hours at most. I thought this would be a nice little head torch to have around, but even in , "Oops, I'm stuck out longer than I realized! Thank goodness I have this headtorch" situations, it falls flat. Think of the highest setting as a high beam you can manually turn on for specific times, then manually turn off. And I mean turn off - you need to turn off the entire light to go through all the different light modes, starting with, "red", then "brighter red", etc.

The battery pack is removable, which is a blessing and a curse - you have to open the headtorch itself to access the USB plug, which is a great chance for the battery pack and the torch itself to part ways. The USB plug sticks straight out of the flat side of the battery, which again is a great chance to damage your USB chord, and isn't very pack-able, for on-the-go charging.

Oh, and no way to lock the light, so it can't be turned on by accident when packed.

Finally, the light tells you the batteries are almost out be pulsating rapidly. Like, the light itself. I can't tell you how annoying that is. Like, I want to kill the light, but I'm in epileptic shock because of the light, annoying. No, infuriating. Other headtorches I have had the pleasure of owning have a led indicator on the side and don't cause me to hate myself and the $60 I've lost to this little thing.

Everything else is just kind of a lightweight cheap-plastic-y feel to it.

    Awesome headlamp

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Couldn't ask for a better headlamp at the price point. Feels sturdy, light and wow, 350 lumens sure does the trick on evening hikes in the Wasatch!

The rechargeable aspect of the headlamp is superb, full lumens lasts for 2 hours until the next charge, however, I rarely use the full to conserve battery except when biking. The battery pack is also compatible with normal AAA batteries, ideal on long backpacking trips or when you left your solar charger at home.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this product, haven't had any issues yet.

    such light much lumens

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

My very very old and well loved Tikka finally was lost before it could die a painful death. I tried two different BD's in between and they both shorted out on me in less than a year. Right now I'm mostly stoked on the light power this thing has, but my fingers are crossed that good reviews and my old reliable brand + rechargeable power will be worth it!

    Step up

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Previously i had owned the Petzl Tikka, and really loved its simple yet effective design. This Actik is a step up! The new rechargeable battery is more eco friendly, and the lumens are bright! This design is still simple and understandable, yet packs a punch.

Great head torch, lots of light in a small package. Price is pretty decent too. I used it for a few 2am alpine starts, along with some late-night bike rides, it worked great for both. I used it on all three brightnesses for different uses. The only downside is how long the battery lasts, but that is counter-weighed by the fact it is rechargeable, and can be replaced by normal AAA batteries. Would recommend.

      Bike dynamo charge-able light!

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Another solid headlamp for our friends at Petzl. For me, the USB chargeable battery makes this a winner for bikepacking. I run a dynamo hub on the front of my bikepack rigs giving me power for dynamo lighting when out at night and charging for my USB devices (gps, phone and now headlamp) during the day. So in my quest to rid myself of batteries, this is a winner. As light (lighter?) as my battery powered headlamp and I don't carry around extra batteries anymore.

      Bright Light

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Headlamp is great. Rechargeable with Core battery. Three different lumens settings makes it great from dusk till dawn. Lightweight, don't even feel it on my head. Great for all adventures from hiking to trail running.

Simple, sleek, and lights up the sky

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This is a great headlamp for the active type out there. I used this for hiking and running, and it stayed in place without flopping around while it still lit the trail in front of me. With three different white light settings and the red light option, there's something for every type of light.
