FANTASTIC FALL JACKET
FANTASTIC FALL JACKET Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer Fit: True to size Size Bought: Medium I am 5’9” with a shorter torso and longer legs. I usually wear either a medium top or large top. I was able to comfortably fit in the medium on this jacket. First ride: Temperature: 45 degrees Weather: Moderate to heavy rain Other gear worn: Base layer and summer jersey This jacket held up pretty well against the rain and wind that I rode in on this ride. While the jacket is definitely water-resistant, it is not waterproof. The heavier rain pushed the jacket to its limit for sure. However, I did notice that even after the water permeated the jacket, it stayed warm for me for the rest of the ride. So if you do end up getting caught in a storm, it’ll be good to get you home. The back of the jacket stayed down for the entire ride and did not need to be adjusted or pulled down at all. The zippered pocket kept everything inside of it relatively dry despite the very wet conditions. Had this ride been a windy one, or a little colder without any water involved, or with maybe a light drizzle, this jacket would be absolutely perfect. This is going to be one of my favorite jackets to use during early and late season riding until the weather gets down below 40 degrees. At that point, I will be able to combine it with the Merino Thermal Jersey to create a jacket that will let me ride into the low 30s with relative comfort. Because the jacket material feels lighter, it doesn’t restrict movement at all. Despite the lighter feel though, it held up like a jacket that’s made for heavier and colder weather if needed. All in all, I’d definitely recommend this jacket for anyone who is looking for a great all-around jacket to get them through all but the toughest weather. Edit: Cold ride: My second major ride that I wanted to do with this item was to see how I cold it would allow me to ride comfortably. When I paired it with the Merino Short Sleeve Baselayer and the PRO Thermal Jersey, I found that I was able to ride all the way down to 25 degrees F and still feel relatively warm. That particular combination of jackets is fantastic and very versatile. It will add about 20 degrees to the temperature you’re used to riding in. Edit: This is still my favorite jacket that I've ridden with to date.

Fall into Winter
First Impressions: I love this jacket. I've only had the chance to wear it on one ride so far but I think this will be my go-to shell this fall/winter on the bike. I wore a summer jersey underneath with temps in the high 40's to low 50's and was very comfortable. I think with some layering, riding into the 30's will be manageable. It breathes as well as it blocks the wind. Which it does very, very well. Sizing: Form Fit. So if you want to add some extra layers under the jacket I would recommend sizing up if you are close to being in between sizes. For reference, I am 6'1" and 165lbs and went with the Large. I would normally be a Medium in most jackets but this PRO line is form fitting so I sized up. Update: I've been using the shell this winter and it's been very versatile. I recently wore it while fat biking in low 30s to high 20s with a wool baselayer and the PI Pro Merino Thermal Jersey and was very comfortable. That was a hard effort and I was only out for 2 hours but that combo kept me warm. I've really come to love the dual zipper on the front. It allows you to vent out some heat under those hard efforts.
