    Plan for rain.

You can pretty much count on that whisphy-looking, bluish-grey cloud morphing into a dark, anvil-shaped thunderhead once the late afternoon rolls around, so be ready with the Patagonia Men's Stretch Rainshadow Jacket. Light, packable, and made with a burly H2No membrane, the Stretch Rainshadow acts as a portable roof to repel the surliest storms whether you're quickly packing up after a climb or scurrying back to treeline as a lightning storm tracks across the alpine. The hood of the Rainshadow can be worn over a climbing helmet and is fitted with a laminated visor with a single-handed drawcord pull for quick adjustments, and the hem and cuffs can be locked down to seal out wind and rain. Finally, the zippered chest pocket doubles as a stuff sack once the skies clear, so you'll always be able to bring the Rainshadow with you.

    • Light, packable rain shell made for alpine blizzards and downpours
    • H2No Performance Standard is reliably waterproof and breathable
    • Underarm ventilation zippers assure ample airflow
    • Adjustments at hem, helmet-compatible hood, and cuffs
    • Self-stuffs into chest pocket with carabiner clip-in loop
    • Item #PAT01AL

    Unanswered Question

Is this jacket strong / substantial enough for alpine skiing? I've been comparing it to the triolet and priolet, but it would be nice to have the lighter weight of the rain shadow.

How would the waterproofing compare on this with other lightweight 2.5 layer shells like the Marmot Essence or Mountain Hardware Stretch Ozonic?

Regular Fit? With the stretch feature, is this jacket truly a regular fit where I could layer an R1 and a Nano Hoodie for cold weather?

Thomas, really depends on your build and the size you buy. I'm 6' 170 and would need a large if I were to layer a Nano and an R1, but a medium is great for just an R1 or something similar underneath.
