    R2 Fleece Jacket

When the dawn patrol is up and at em' the Patagonia R2 Fleece Jacket will be right there with you, whether you're off for a chilly morning climb or a fresh run off the skin track. With a soft Polartec Thermal Pro body that's lightweight and moisture-wicking, this midlayer keeps you plenty toasty, with breathable side panels to ensure you won't overheat when you're on the wall or hitting a bump run at the resort. Climbers will especially love these panels, with a comfortable stretch and added abrasion resistance. The high hand pockets sit above a pack waist-belt or climbing harness, so you're set when you start to shed layers on the skin track or at the crag. Elastic cuffs seal in warmth, and allow sleeves to push up easily so you can free up your arms to reach your next hold.

    Perfect for Layering

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: Small
    • Height: 5'0"
    • Weight: 105lbs

I purchased this item as a xmas gift for a cousin, but ended up exchanging due to a size error. While she is incredibly small (5'0 and around 105 lbs) and usually wears an XS, the XS was a little snug with anything more than a light shirt on and she planned to use this as a ski layer as well as a jacket to use around town. Easy enough to swapped for the Small and it fits perfectly. Overall this jacket wasn't entirely what I expected, but it should work well and will certainly keep her warm on the slopes.

Not what I expected, but I'll keep it

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: medium
    • Height: 5'5"

Maybe I missed it in the description, but there are large panels of thin, non-fleece running down the backside of the sleeve. This could be a pro if you're using this while exerting a lot of energy, or a con if you're just trying to stay warm.
For me, the sleeves are snug and difficult to wear over other layers. Chalk that up to my "mom arms," but my 20-year-old self would have had no trouble.
This works great for layering under a shell.

    Fuzzy goodness.

This was a Christmas gift for my mother-in-law, and the fuzzy fleece fabric was a big hit. She's around 5'4" and 110lbs, and the XS was a better fit than the S. The jacket has a nice silhouette (not boxy at all) and very long sleeves.

    Poor Fit

    • Fit: True to size
    • Height: 5'4"

Love the material, but the fit wasn't great. It was too long, and it was longer in the front than the back on me. Also the upper part of the sleeves were large and baggy, while the rest of the jacket had a nice slim fit.

    You've been warned.

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'9"

Don't buy this jacket if you don't like getting hugs from people 24/7. It's addictively fuzzy.

For the most part, I wear it for coffee-drinking and lounging around the house on frigid mornings, but it's stretchy and technical enough to use as a midlayer if you like.

Honestly, the saddest day of the week for me is the day this jacket is in the wash and I can't wear it for a few hours.

    Patagonia R2 Fleece Jacket

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Just like any Patagonia product.. excellent craftsmanship, fits well, last forever and a bit pricey.. Anyways, these are bomb proof and probably I will hand these down to my grandchildren one day.

    undecided

    • Size Bought: Medium

Wore this fleece as a mid-layer skiing for 4 days in a row. Loved the performance and breathability of the garment, I never felt too cold or too hot but disappointed in what seems to be the materials durability. I wore this over my thermal base-layer and and under my backcountry shell and after just he 4 days the waffle material on the paneling is pilling like nobody's business. I'm feeling extremely skeptical on this jacket holding up for a few seasons which is what it needs to be capable of at this price point. Also, I'm 5'6'' and around 140 and I found this is be very fitted, I definitely can't layer more than a thin thermal underneath. Trying to decide whether or not to return and try the North Face Radium fleece...

    Patagonia R2 fleece sucks

Patagonia has gone to crap this material is horrible! Very disappointed with description and backcountry has no free returns either! Totally misrepresented size and quality!

    Love love love!

    This fleece is wonderful
    1) material is super soft, warm and stretchy. It's extremely comfortable on the skin and moves super well with you
    2)it's lightweight and folds small
    3) i love that the side panels are made of thinner material - it improves fit, and it's cooler where you need it to be.
    4) i would say it's only moderately fitted. There is room for layers underneath.

    Surprisingly fun jacket

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: XS
    • Height: 5'1"
    • Weight: 116lbs

At first I was dubious as it fit a bit snug, but it moves with you and so after wearing it a bit it became quite comfortable. I like the slim fit as it will keep the chill out. Nice and soft and even though the length is long it seems to have an option to fold up the bottom if you want. and wear it as a shorter length version. I think it will be quite comfortable under my down Patagonia jacket. Love the color

    Technical Fleece

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs small

I am going to disagree with other reviews and say this is worth the cost. If you are looking for a casual fleece for very cold weather, buy something heavier like the Retro X. This is a nice fleece for layer. It's light weight and because of the thinner fabric under the arms it breaths well when hiking, especially in the fall when you want a little warmth but still are going to work up a sweat and not need a lot on you.

The fit is pretty typical for Patagonia. It's slim. Normal sizing will fit snug, which can be good if you are climbing or wearing a harness and don't want anything in your way. If you are looking for something for casual use, sizing up is the way to go.

For years I loved Patagonia. Lately I have returned 3 now going to be 4 things I purchased. I don't want to give up on this brand but everything I have bought just seems cheaply made. I always find Patagonia always run small so I sized up and it did fit fine. The blue is def. cookie monster blue for sure like Cory said but I agree with other reviewer. It isn't worth the money it cost.

    Cookie Monster

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

I love this fleece, I am wearing it as I type. It is warm and soft like a fleece should be, and hugs curves nicely. I am a messy kid, so I love that this jacket is pretty stain resistant. I spilled red wine on it a few weeks ago and it came right out with a wet rag, no stain to be found and I haven't even washed it yet. It packs up tiny and it's super light. I purchased the "Curacao" blue which is a pretty inaccurate name. It's much more of a "Cookie Monster" blue for sure. Pictures to follow.

super thin- not worth the money.

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

I was looking for something comparable to a North Face fleece, and because of all the good reviews, I ordered this "jacket" that is more like a thin sweatshirt. Needless to say, I already sent it back, it's not worth the money!

zipper issues at first, but love <3

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

had to exchange my first order of this fleece due to the zipper not working. It zipped up the first 3 times I put it on, the 4th I could not get it to zip up. The exchange zips with no issues. Really blocks the wind on a fall day. so soft of fabric, feminine fit, and I get non-stop compliments on the blue butterfly color. love it <3 I'm 5' 3" 120 lbs. and the small fits just right :-)

    The best...

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This fleece is awesome! It is incredibly soft and cozy with an attractive fit. The weight makes it a great fleece for backpacking trips; you barely notice it is there. Like any fleece jacket, it doesn't do much for wind protection, but works great as a layer. The one complaint I have is the short arms. I am 5ft 8in with very long arms and the ones on this fleece are a little bit too short. That could just be a gangly person problem though. Overall, the medium fits well. I couldn't be happier with this fleece!

    Soooo soft!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs large

I <3 this fleece! It's the softest piece of clothing I own. It's amazing! It's not super warm, but makes a great fall jacket and is a great layering piece. I would say, if you are between sizes, go down. I'm 5"5', 105 lbs, 30x25x36 and an XS fits perfectly.
