Great for the resort and the vents make them great for touring. I've owned several pairs of snow pants and these have been my favorite so far. They do run a little large but the ability to adjust the waist negates the need for a belt. They're a little baggy but they still feel super comfortable and the extra material doesn't get in the way of function.

S was too snug with my 31-32 waist. Sizing up to M, M fit like clown pants. Billowing bagginess everywhere. Seemed to be for a 35" waist. Why is there no size between S and M when the waist size jumps so much. I probably also need a short size but don't like black, but didn't expect it to be this long. You'll need to be a minimum of 6" (in the tallest 20th percent) to consider these pants if you care about getting correct lengths. I guess they assume shorter people will just put up with them.

Absolutely agree with you! Hope The folks at Patagonia read this review.

same feeling here. I am 5' 7 with 30 waist. I wear almost everything patagonia small but this one is baggy and long, quality is very good and details is good. if price dropped to 200 bucks, I will buy it even though the size is not totally satisfied, since we are doing snowboard so the baggy and ulgy look may be ok

The shell pants are awesome. They fit great. Not overly tight but not too baggy. The material is well made. Patagonia did not disappoint.

Great construction, water proofing, and esthetic of these pants (lovvvvvve orange). My only gripe is they seem to run big. I'm 6'3.5" and almost 240 lbs and have a pretty thick/developed lower half. I'm usually fine with an XL (I wear 36x34 jeans), but it is not unheard of that I have to deal with a bigger waist to fit in my legs and the ole caboose. This is one of those cases. The velcro tabs didn't do the trick for the oversize waist, but I just wear a belt with em. Maybe I should be in a Large, but they're sold out and it's hard to believe I'd wear a Large!

Had to return as the fit was very baggy through the leg. Waist was fine. Im a trim build (5-11, 175) but long in the leg so I purched the L, as I typically do. These were huge.

Have used this pant for most od]f the season. I probably have 20+ days in them. The fit is excellent, with plenty of room without being sloppy big. Features are clean and usable without complication. Bomber scuff guard reinforcement, plenty breathable, and excellent DWR. I would recommend these to anyone who rides or skis.

I purchased these for a gift (and own the women's version myself) and they've been fantastic. Super durable, slightly heavier than some of the thinner feeling GTX pants, have mesh lining so adds a little extra warmth to this shell pant, and yes, they are baggier than some--perfect, if that's what you need or like. These were for a very athletic guy with well developed thighs and glutes; since most of the "straight" or slender-technical style pants were too constricting, these were absolutely the ticket. Great thigh venting too. They look fantastic and he's got room to move while tackling the steep and deep, inbounds, and out of bounds cat skiing (note: a little heavy for touring).

Medium- Short inseam

I wore the short inseam model in a medium for 125 days this past season. These were solid in all conditions thrown at me by mother nature in the Northeast. powder, rain, ice and sleet, these pants did not let me down. Solid Gore-Tex breath-ability paired with the build quality that we all know Patagonia is known for. As a snowboard instructor, I spend lots of time taking a knee helping to tech equipment and help students. The articulated knees and the adjustable waist tabs make for an excellent fit when shredding hard. These fit true to size, as someone who is 5'5", 150lbs, the short inseam medium model is perfect and does not bunch up and drag under my boots or turn to shredded wheat like other brands...Only drawback is the limited color choice for the Short inseam option(You can get any color you want, as long as its black). Panel says: 100% recommended!

I picked these up this season and have been mostly happy with them. They are great in wet conditions, Good quality which I have come to expect from Patagonia. I like the pockets. My complaint comes with the fit. The crotch of the pants is quite low which hinders range of motion trying to take large steps/raise your knee up. I should say, however, that it wasn't bad enough for me to return the pants.

Sizes have changed

Order a medium/reg and was a size too big. A Patagonia sales rep told me that they changed their sizing for pants. A small/reg has a waist range of 31-33 with a length of 32 now.

Solid Patagonia construction and fit, maybe a little big but style points for sure. The two layer goretex construction takes a lot to wet out, only one time in the fifty plus days I put on these last season did that happen when it slowed seven inches in an hour (which would wet out nearly anything). After a break to de ice my beard and eat a snack these were dry as a bone in fifteen minutes, although the outer fabric got wet in this monster dump I stayed dry. Skiing in the trees these pants can take a beating too. I would recommend using nikwax on these every twenty or so days to keep the fabric in good shape. If you take care of your gear it takes care of you. I really wish the vents were on the inner thigh to dump heat quicker and allow less potential snow to blow in but the powder bowl pants are great in temps in the twenties without any kind of base layer. Great price for a solid shell goretex pant.

Got a medium in this and it has a relaxed fit in the legs, but is a bit long (I have a 31" inseam in regular pants), which can be annoying sometimes. Otherwise, they are comfy and are the quality you'd expect from Patagonia.

I had been eyeing these for a while, and finally went and tried them on. 25 year skier, 34-35" Waist, athletic build, size large fit perfectly with room to spare. Adjustable waist straps, functional pockets and zippers, gaiters sealed nicely to my boots, water/windproof to this point. 3 days of 0-15 degrees F, 20-30 MPH winds, sleet/freezing rain, powder, all terrain that the east coast has to offer (maximum of 12" powder so far.) All I had on under was a light merino base. I am not disappointed by my purchase at all, in-fact... I should have got these sooner... I had my last pair of pants for 6-7 years, these blow them out of the frozen/puffy-white water. If in doubt, try them on... and then buy them, you won't regret getting them.

I bought these for my bro, here is what he had to say, "These pants are awesome, GORE-TEX helps them breathe and keeps the water out. The vents on the sides are perfect for those warm days on the slopes when you need a breeze. The seams are fully taped to keep the heat in and water out. Would definitely suggest these to anyone who skis at the resorts and those who head to the backcountry!!"

I like the fact the vents are on the outsides of the legs. I feel like they do a better job allowing more air to flow. The sizing is a touch large but there are tabs on the inside of the pants to take in extra material if they are too big which is a nice touch as well.
