    Season-long comfort.

We all dream of the perfect season—endless powder, no crowds, unlimited ski days—but even when your season is looking less than ideal, the Patagonia Men's Powder Bowl Pant will come through. Made from a rugged two-layer Gore-Tex shell, this pant provides exceptional waterproof, windproof, and breathable performance. A DWR finish prevents moisture from seeping into the face fabric, while a slick mesh lining wicks moisture and makes layering easy. External mesh-lined thigh vents help you regulate temperature at a moment's notice. Gaiters seal out snow to help keep your socks dry and comfortable. Tough scuff guards protect the inside of your leg and the bottom hem from sharp ski edges. So, whether you're charging through powder or carving groomers during high-pressure conditions, the Powder Bowl Pant will keep you comfortable and protected all season long.

    • Versatile pants for riding frontside steeps or backcountry couloirs
    • Gore-Tex shell with fully taped seams is waterproof and breathable
    • External thigh vents dump heat quick before you sweat through layers

    Good Quality So-So Fit

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: XL
    • Height: 6'1"
    • Weight: 200lbs

I picked these up this season and have been mostly happy with them. They are great in wet conditions, Good quality which I have come to expect from Patagonia. I like the pockets. My complaint comes with the fit. The crotch of the pants is quite low which hinders range of motion trying to take large steps/raise your knee up. I should say, however, that it wasn't bad enough for me to return the pants.

    Good pants, run large

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: Runs large

Got these as a gift for a friend, who reports that they "run slightly large but are very warm and comfortable."

    Sizes have changed

Order a medium/reg and was a size too big. A Patagonia sales rep told me that they changed their sizing for pants. A small/reg has a waist range of 31-33 with a length of 32 now.

      Love the Pata-gooch!

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: Medium
      • Height: 5'11"
      • Weight: 175lbs

Been using for a season, no complaints. Super warm and dry, and plenty of room to move.

      Skitastic

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: Runs large
      • Size Bought: Medium
      • Height: 6'1"
      • Weight: 174lbs

Solid Patagonia construction and fit, maybe a little big but style points for sure. The two layer goretex construction takes a lot to wet out, only one time in the fifty plus days I put on these last season did that happen when it slowed seven inches in an hour (which would wet out nearly anything). After a break to de ice my beard and eat a snack these were dry as a bone in fifteen minutes, although the outer fabric got wet in this monster dump I stayed dry. Skiing in the trees these pants can take a beating too. I would recommend using nikwax on these every twenty or so days to keep the fabric in good shape. If you take care of your gear it takes care of you. I really wish the vents were on the inner thigh to dump heat quicker and allow less potential snow to blow in but the powder bowl pants are great in temps in the twenties without any kind of base layer. Great price for a solid shell goretex pant.

      Good quality, a bit big

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: Runs large
      • Size Bought: Medium
      • Height: 6'0"
      • Weight: 185lbs

Got a medium in this and it has a relaxed fit in the legs, but is a bit long (I have a 31" inseam in regular pants), which can be annoying sometimes. Otherwise, they are comfy and are the quality you'd expect from Patagonia.

Medium too large Small to small

      • Fit: Runs small
      • Size Bought: Small
      • Height: 5'7"
      • Weight: 170lbs

Great quality pants, but the sizing just doesn't work for me. If you're tall and lean, I think Patagonia's cut is designed for you. Me? Not so much.

      Great Leg Covers

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: Runs large
      • Size Bought: Large
      • Height: 5'9"
      • Weight: 195lbs

I had been eyeing these for a while, and finally went and tried them on. 25 year skier, 34-35" Waist, athletic build, size large fit perfectly with room to spare. Adjustable waist straps, functional pockets and zippers, gaiters sealed nicely to my boots, water/windproof to this point. 3 days of 0-15 degrees F, 20-30 MPH winds, sleet/freezing rain, powder, all terrain that the east coast has to offer (maximum of 12" powder so far.) All I had on under was a light merino base.

I am not disappointed by my purchase at all, in-fact... I should have got these sooner... I had my last pair of pants for 6-7 years, these blow them out of the frozen/puffy-white water.

If in doubt, try them on... and then buy them, you won't regret getting them.

      Bro Is Stoked

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: Large
      • Height: 5'8"
      • Weight: 150lbs

I bought these for my bro, here is what he had to say, "These pants are awesome, GORE-TEX helps them breathe and keeps the water out. The vents on the sides are perfect for those warm days on the slopes when you need a breeze. The seams are fully taped to keep the heat in and water out. Would definitely suggest these to anyone who skis at the resorts and those who head to the backcountry!!"

      Nice pant but big

      • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
      • Fit: Runs large
      • Size Bought: Medium
      • Height: 5'7"
      • Weight: 170lbs

Liked the pant. had plenty of pockets and appeared to be constructed of good quality. Ultimately medium was way oversized, I thought.

      Well made with good venting

      • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
      • Fit: Runs large
      • Size Bought: large
      • Height: 5'10"
      • Weight: 175lbs

I like the fact the vents are on the outsides of the legs. I feel like they do a better job allowing more air to flow. The sizing is a touch large but there are tabs on the inside of the pants to take in extra material if they are too big which is a nice touch as well.

      Bit baggy

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size

I've had these Patagonia Powder Bowl Pants for two seasons now and they haven't let me down.

The 2ply Goretex is breathable enough for mainly resort skiing, and the side vents provide some relief quickly and easily.

The fleece lined pockets are a great touch, but as with some other pants I'd love for the zipper to close down instead of up. Maybe I'm OCD, but I'm constanly reaching down to make sure that my wallet and cellphone are safe.

I find the bit to be a bit baggy in the quads, but nothing outrageous. The reinforced ankle cuffs are a nice touch.

      Runs big and long

      • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
      • Fit: Runs large
      • Size Bought: L
      • Height: 5'11"
      • Weight: 185lbs

Returning these. I'm 5' 11" and 185 lb. Usually wear a 35 / 32 in pants. These were long in the legs and big in the waist for me.

      Great pant

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: Medium
      • Height: 6'2"
      • Weight: 165lbs

I have this pant in the 2012 model and loved it. So when it was finnaly time to replace them I jumped at the opportunity to get the same pant. Gor Tex keeps me dry while keeping me from gettin boggy when I'm hikeing up and I really like the vents on the hip for dumping heat rather then on the inner thi like most of the other Patagonia snow pants. I'm 6'2" and 165 lbs. I like like the length of the size M and the waist has a stretchy adjustable belt thats integrated into the pant which makes em fit perfectly... in normally a 31" waist.

      Perfect for Powder Days

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size

These pants are everything you would expect from Patagonia, a simple design with great technical properties. From the waterproof Gore-Tex shell, to the temperature regulating vents, down to the boot gater; the powder bowl pants have it all! I would recommend these pants to all winter sport enthusiasts.

      Patagonia Powder Bowl Pant

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Just like any Patagonia product.. excellent craftsmanship, fits well, last forever and a bit pricey.. Anyways, these are bomb proof and probably I will hand these down to my grandchildren one day.

      Dependable Snowpant

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: XL
      • Height: 6'3"
      • Weight: 205lbs

Bought these recently to replace my aging ski pants. I knew I wanted to go Gore-Tex this time around, but the high end 3L stuff all have price tags that are hard to stomach.

Enter the Powder Bowl from Patagonia. The pants were soft and comfortable out of the bag and well featured. The mesh interior is great and the large leg vents get the job done when things get swampy.

Despite the "slim" designation, I find the fit to be plenty relaxed; the pants certainly don't impede any movement. I might have been able to size down to a large, but with the adjustable waist tabs I decided to stick with the XL.

I've yet to wear them in truly rough conditions, but my initial impressions lead me to believe that they will be more than up to the task.

      Unanswered Question

What color is smoke blue? It looks more gray than blue. Is that correct? Also, do these run large like last year’s?

What is the inseam length on these pants? And are they insulated? Thanks for the help.

Inseam is 32in for a size M. These are not insulated, but there is an insulated version - item #PAT01II. Feel free to give me a call at 801-736-5313 or shoot me an email at gconner@backcountry.com if you have any additional questions.
