    Almost too easy.

The Patagonia Women's Light & Variable Jacket is a shield against the elements from the windy beach to the shady park trails. Recycled polyester with a DWR finish and UPF-rated 50+ sun protection makes this lightweight jacket a dominant force all year round, especially since it has underarm venting to cool you down on hot days or room to layer on cold days. In case you get trapped in a rainy wind storm, the hood drawcord and elastic cuffs shield you while the zip pockets conceal your phone and keys. The Light & Variable also features a carabiner clip-in loop for convenience as you climb, and it easily stows into its own pocket for spontaneous backpacking trips.

    Love it

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

The description is pretty much spot on, it is very light and has enough room under for a sweatshirt or extra layer, but can be worn well without one too. Has breathing holes under the arms so you don't sweat like you can in other jackets like this. I love the design of the rivermouth because it is cute yet does not stand out too much. Overall love this jacket!

    Wanted to love it...

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: x-small
    • Height: 5'10"
    • Weight: 125lbs

I loved the look and description of this jacket from the moment I saw it on Patagonia's website. I usually wear a small or x-small in Patagonia, but the x-small was sold out everywhere so I tried a small. It was cute, but overall too big so I sent it back. Then I saw that Backcountry had an x-small in stock so I quickly ordered! I received it in the mail yesterday, and unfortunately it's going to have to go back. The fit is just strange. The body of the jacket is really boxy, so even in the x-small size, it still looks too large (I could comfortably fit a baggy sweatshirt or fleece under it, not what I wanted for a light spring jacket). Even though the jacket is too large overall, the sleeves were also too short! Just a weird fit. It's a bummer because I love the style and the fact that it's windproof and has sun protection. It could have been my go-to for an extra layer in the spring and summer.
