Grade VII Down Parka
If the Patagonia Grade VII Down Parka looks like the puffiest jacket you've ever seen, that's because it just might be. But put it on and you'll see that all that puff, specifically 800-fill down with a fully baffled construction, leads to some pretty extraordinary warmth. Designed through years of trials and testing, the Grade VII represents Patagonia's warmest belaying parka, or any jacket for that matter, to date. It was designed for the most adventurous expeditions to earth's most extreme climates, and all that testing and its endless list of features say that it's up for the task.
The fully baffled construction keeps the down securely in place, which eliminates unwanted cold spots and helps the down to keep its loft. The side baffles are actually elasticized for a closer fit that pulls warmth in and keeps your feet and belay device more visible. Speaking of belay devices, the two-way front zipper, which features two huge draft tubes to keep the cold from getting in, will let you zip however you want to for full access to your harness and device with the parka on. The Grade VII's arms, chest, and shoulder feature a glued baffle construction that won't allow any moisture to sneak in, while the side and back are built with a more robust, higher-denier fabric for added durability. All of it is treated with a Durable Water Repellent (DWR) treatment to keep snow and moderate rain from soaking through.
When you need to really bundle up, you can throw the fully-insulated hood on over your climbing helmet, then stuff your hands into the front chest and hand pockets. All external pockets on the Grade VII feature down insulation on either side of the pocket bags, ensuring that warmth will be there for you when gloves alone aren't cutting it. The inside of the jacket features four separate drop-in pockets, with a stretch mesh material on the bottom that lets snowy gloves drain moisture instead of letting it gather within the pocket. Rounding out this behemoth of a jacket are the elastic cuffs that seal out the cold and can be easily pushed up when you need a trimmer arm on the pitch or at camp, and an adjustable hem that can be stowed inside the parka to avoid snagging on gear or rocks.

Hi Serge, we have a claimed weight of 1lb 7.8oz for this model typically measured in M. The L should be less than a couple oz more. - Ben from the content team
