Why We Like The Patagonia Dirt Roamer 20L Pack
The Patagonia Dirt Roamer 20L Pack is built for big rides or bad weather. Made with rugged recycled nylon that's coated with polyurethane for added abrasion-resistance and weather-resistance, the pack can handle a lifetime of abuse, but it won't take that out on us. Quite the opposite, the monomesh backpanel is breathable and won't absorb water while the Regularator airmesh maximizes breathability through the hip belt and shoulder straps to regulate our temperature as we're tearing up single track or grinding through gravelly forest service roads. The Dirt Roamer is available in two sizes and comes with a 2-liter Hydrapak reservoir to keep us hydrated.

Not Patagonias best idea
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
- Size Bought:
- L
This bag isn’t great. It’s soft and has no structure in the back which makes it slump down on your back when you have the hydration bladder filled. The storage configuration is also not ideal, if you want to get anything it all falls out and it seems to hold way less than my other 20L bag. The back is also not breathable which causes you to sweat bad and I’m not a sweaty guy. The hip pockets and the detachable hydration tube are about the only things I’d keep from this thing. Overall a disappointment that’s made from quality materials. The construction is quality but the concept and design are garbage. I bought a different bag due to the lack of storage and the lack of utility on this.

Great pack at a killer deal

I bought this primarily to use for commuting to and from work - anything from 15 to 30 miles; replacing my Osprey Raptor. I actually use the bladder storage area to put my PC and it fits great (unlike the Raptor) and does not move around. There is no divider of any sort in the main compartment other than a key lanyard. However this has not bothered me and I am easily able to find my gear and equally I have no issues with bike repair tools, spare tubes, clothes and food from moving around. The double zipper means you can open up the main compartment and easily find what you are looking for, versus a top entry zipper on some packs which means you have to rummage around "blind" for what you are looking for. Side pockets on waist belt hold snacks and other items. Zips are all smooth and material construction is very good, and pack is equally light-weight. So for my needs, it is working great. I have not used the bladder so cannot comment. I bought the size small and I am 5' 8". Fits great. I did try the large and it would ride up the back of my neck, so small was definitely the right choice for me.

Great Pack - not so great mouthpiece

Love this pack, nice and comfy with a great waistband to keep the off your shoulders. One recommendation, replace the mouthpiece before you head out. The hose is ok, however the mouthpiece snapped off on the first stress test, run off the road by a garbage truck. Love the zippers, access fro top or bottom making it easy to grab something from the pack without taking it off - using the bottom zipper. Great setup. Swapped the hose and mouthpiece out with an another and it works great.
