Threadlocker

Threadlocker is a specialized adhesive designed to secure threaded fasteners, such as nuts and bolts, preventing them from loosening due to vibrations or movement. It works by filling the gaps between the threads and curing to form a strong bond, ensuring that your fasteners stay tight and secure over time.

Using an adhesive primer like AP-1 prepares the surface for better adhesion of the threadlocker. It enhances the bond, especially on challenging materials like carbon fiber, and helps prevent parts from becoming permanently bonded, ensuring that you can disassemble them if needed in the future.

Park Tool's threadlockers are designed to offer similar performance to well-known Loctite products, such as Loctite 262/263 and Loctite 242/243. Each product has different strengths, so you can choose one based on your specific needs, whether you require a strong hold or a removable option.

Galvanic corrosion occurs when two different metals are in contact in the presence of an electrolyte, leading to accelerated deterioration of one metal. It's important to avoid using threadlocker on titanium threads, as it can create conditions for galvanic corrosion, potentially damaging your components over time.

A retaining compound is an adhesive used to bond cylindrical parts, such as bearings in housings, and is designed to fill gaps between parts for a strong bond. Unlike threadlocker, which is specifically for threaded fasteners, retaining compounds are used in different applications where parts need to be securely held together.
