Fabulous warmth

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my jacket that will keep me warm as I climb Mt. Kilimanjaro. It fits and feels amazing, it is super light weight, it fits under my rain jacket and it is WARM!

The jacket I thought I would never get

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I sent a jacket back in January for a credit, it took 4 months to get my new jacket so I haven't worn it as it is now too hot to wear. The worst customer service I have ever had with an outdoor product company. The new jacket seems okay. It wasn't exactly what I wanted to replace my other jacket with, but the closest to it available and I couldn't get answers to questions I had about the OR products available. It was so frustrating. Sad because you make quality products.

Love but poor sizing

I first tried this is XS and loved it so much but was slightly snug around my hips so sized up to S. The S was so huge it looked like a men's coat. Sleeves too long, gaping in arm pits. Wide and bulky all over. It's so strange that the two sizes are THAT different. I loved everything about this coat and really wanted to keep it. Very warm Not to swooshy and loud Lots of pockets Big hood Good length mid to low butt Fix your sizing!!! Many have mentioned the hugeness.

The warmest coat I have ever owned.

I've owned a lot of coats and been a lot of places. This is the warmest coat that I have ever owned. We like to go to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan in the winter and this coat keeps me WARM! It also isn't too hot on warmer days. It's just the perfect coat. It cinches in all the write places to help keep air out, the hood fits over a helmet, the hood also has a nice interior cinch that creates a nice seal around your face which was a nice surprise feature. I've worm in it whipping cold winds with a simple wool base layer and have remained very warm. Used for snowboarding, XC Skiing (on cold days) and hiking. I'm so in love, I own 2.

Solid Coat and Long Enough!

I am a big fan of this coat -- it works well and the outer material is a bit sturdier than some of my other OR down coats. I bought this coat in a medium so that it would be a good mid-layer in very cold conditions, and a good standalone coat when it is just cold -- the size works well in both applications. For reference I am 5'9'' - typically I wear a woman's medium top and around a 6 in pants. I love the fact that it is long enough to cover my butt and a good portion of my thigh! Paired with a pair of insulated knee-high muck boots this coat made it fun to be outside even in negative degree weather -- I live in northwestern Montana about 80 miles away from the Canadian Boarder, so -30 degree weather is pretty normal. I particularly love the drawstring at the bottom of the coat -- which helps immensely in keeping a warm bubble around you body. Also pockets! There are two large inside pockets that can easily fit a large water bottle -- again super useful in very cold conditions when you need to keep your water from freezing.

Runs really big!

I never thought I'd need a small size in any women's jacket but this one I should have paid heed to the reviews that it runs quite large. I'm 5'8 138 lb but with very broad shoulders and athletic build. Typically medium for OR tops but in many brands I need a large for my shoulders. This jacket was just swimming on me in every direction though I like the length. Unfortunately now all the smalls are out of stock :(

Super warm, but worried about zipper

Familiarity:

Xs

This jacket is great, but definitely size down. I?m consistently a size small in OR (and every brand, unless the sizing is junior, then I go medium for shoulder room), but wow, I was swimming in a small. I exchanged for an XS and even still there is plenty of room in the body for layers. Sizing aside, I love the length - it hits just below my butt (I?m 5?6) and has been great for windy belays and camping on a winter climbing trip to Spain. Very warm. I?m confident it?ll stay cozy for mountaineering and high elevation trekking I am worried about the zipper - it can be a bit tricky and I almost always need to zip the lower zipper up before I can zip the top one down to take off the coat. In the past, I had a good experience OR?s customer service for zippers though, so if it?s an issue down the line I?m sure it?ll be fine Also the stuff sack provided is worthless. Super thin and the elastic used to close the bag pulled out within a week I also don?t love the thick elastic at the cuffs - maybe with big gloves I?ll appreciate them, but otherwise I keep them as loose as possible, otherwise it?s a bit irritating on my wrists. I ordered this jacket and the RAB neutrino pro and kept this one mostly because of the length

Killer puffy

It fits well (size M for 5'8" and 145 lbs), roomy in all the right places to layer without feeling constricted, extraordinarily warm. I love the giant hood, the inside baffles on the sleeves, and the chest pocket. The Pertex coating is durable but not loud/crunchy and does not seem to sacrifice on weight very much, and the amount of waterproofing is so reassuring around the down. I feel invincibly warm in this jacket. Two things I would change; I wish the stuff sack it came with was smaller and more true to size for how compressible the jacket is. It's probably twice as big as it needs to be. The front pockets are fleece-lined which is amazing, but they drop all the way to the hem of the jacket, so if your hands are all the way in the pockets and resting against the bottom seam, you get a ton of cold exposure because there's no insulation between the bottom of the pocket and the air. But it still checks all the most important boxes! I love it and hope to own it for decades.

so warm and cozy

Super warm and cozy. I got this mostly for staying warm during non aerobic activities and it certainly does that well. Easy to move about in spite of the loftiness. Fits great (5'7, tall torso, skinny frame). I do wish there was a women's waterproof version.
