Why We Like The Skytour AscentShell Jacket
There's a reason the critics rave about the Skytour AscentShell Jacket: it's exceptionally light and agile with premium weather protection and temperature regulation. This comes from both properly placed ventilation and its highly breathable fabric. What really makes this touring jacket is Outdoor Research's 3L AscentShell membrane. It features no excess material, meaning no excess weight to burden us as we trek our way deep through pristine plains of powder. If we want even more coverage, we can grab a pair of matching SkyTour bibs and buckle them into our SkyTour jacket.

Excellent skiing shell
Bought this jacket for resort skiing. It's great quality and kept me well protected on some particularly windy and snowy days. There is no built-in powder skirt but did not have issues with snow getting under the jacket when falling in powder. Highly recommend this jacket!!

Excellent quality of materials, intelligent design features
I have mixed feelings about this jacket. It is an oversized style. Perhaps it is too big for me, but it's the only available size in the color I wanted. I'm not sure I'm keeping it for this reason. However, I know the materials are of high quality, the design features are great, and it was on sale.

Love This Jacket!
I have been searching for the "perfect" snowboard jacket and have found very few options that have met the mark. I was looking for a shell that was durable, waterproof, reasonably priced and allowed for movement when riding. This shell met all that criteria, with the bonuses of pit vents, chest pockets, a pocket in the sleeve for your pass and a deep hood/neck that keeps you protected from the cold. I don't normally write reviews, but I was impressed with this jacket and know that I'll be able to use it for snowboarding at the resort (with layers) and also tour in it! The pink and blue colorway is great as well.

Great for skiing!
Wore my new gear this season, and it fared well in wet conditions too! I love having lots of pockets and discovering new places to store my phone, life pass, and snacks. A beautiful sage/light blue color that looks great on the slopes.

Love this jacket
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Good fit and love the color. I haven't been in a very wet weather with this coat yet, hopefully it is truly waterproof. It will come handy for hiking in the rain as well.

Excited at the versitility
I'm excited about this jacket. When it arrived I wasn't sure, because although it's really handsome and seems very high quality I couldn't believe it was waterproof. I live in the PNW and we get a lot of cold rain. No doubt it'll work for snow (I haven't tried it yet) but I just wasn't convinced it would work for our wet winters. Well, I finally took the tags off today and took it hiking and it was just perfect. Warm, wind-proof, totally waterproof, quiet, stylish protection. Unzipped a bit it worked great on the uphills, but I was plenty warm enough when I stopped sweating too. I have a really light rainshell but I often get too cold if I'm out for hours in poor weather, and it's very fitted so hard to layer up. But this thing has plenty of room for layers. I would say TTS, it is not as fitted as some jackets but I can fit a full hooded puffy under it. And, it doesn't look "too big" either way. I was looking for a versatile jacket for Oregon and Alaska (where I work sometimes) and I'm really happy with this jacket. Excited to put it through the ringer.

I found my Unicorn!
After three winters of trying to (unsuccessfully) find a parka to replace my beloved Isis, I found my next unicorn. I am definitely a pear-shaped, curvy fit, who prefers a two way zipper to give some ease through the hips, and this coat delivers an amazing fit! It arrived just in time for a series of Atmospheric River/"Bomb Cyclone" storms here and it's kept me bone-dry working outdoors in the yard or running errands for a couple hours at a time. Plenty of room to layer, generous range on the wrist cinches, generous hood w/ hood adjustment points. Fabric is fantastic-soft, breathable, hint of stretch. Cut is flattering. My only gripe (which is a barely-gripe) is the bottom half of the 2-way zipper seems a little stiff/reluctant... it may just need to break in a bit. I'm a women's 10-12 on top, 14-curvy on the bottom - bought an XL which has just the right amount of room for winter layers w/ a puffer up top and through the hips/seat. If OR offers fresh colors next year (Berry? Indigo? Teal?), I might consider buying a second one to leave one at home and one in Tahoe. I see why it's an award winner.
