    New and warm.

Constructed with new insulation technology from Outdoor Research, the Refuge Hooded Jacket provides resiliency, breathability, and stretch in a synthetic insulation piece that keeps you warm even when wet. This new insulation technology, VerticalX, offers warmth that is more akin to a 700-fill down than most other commonly used synthetic insulations. It's also more breathable thanks to the lack of an internal backer meaning there's less of a barrier to moisture moving through the jacket. VerticalX is essentially synthetic insulation with better loft and a lot more stretch.

The stretch from the VerticalX is highly appreciated when climbing in the cooler temperatures, skiing on fresh powder days, and making your way up to a remote mountain lake in late fall. The water resistant face fabric keeps you dry in light moisture and the brushed tricot interior keeps you extra cozy warm when the temperatures really start to drop. When your adventures are over, the jacket packs into its own pocket for easy carry until you need it next.

    • Synthetic insulated jacket for warmth in cold weather activities
    • VerticalX insulation provides breathable warmth even when wet
    • Insulation has high stretch factor for freedom of movement
    • Fabric is water resistant to protect insulation and contain warmth
    • Brushed tricot interior provides added warmth in chilly temps
    • Jacket easily packs into pocket for convenient après transport

Warm and comfy! - sister's friend

For lightweight synthetic, this is one of best jackets there is. Fitted look, perfect for both lounging by the campfire and an early morning hike or two. It also packs down easily.

It got dirty really quick and has kept the smell of campfire for weeks, but that's not unique. Just means it needs some love and a wash!

    Surprisingly Warm, Great Cut

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: True to size
    • Height: 5'10"
    • Weight: 175lbs

Picked this up for my girlfriend, and it kept her warm in below freezing conditions. It's super versatile, can be used as a mid-layer for skiing, or just as a flattering jacket to wear around town.

    Great Jacket

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

My new favorite go-to for most days. Fitted look which is really nice. Perfect for most weather. Only down side would be the material, could be a little more water resistant as it got dirty quick.

    Buy This Jacket!!!!!

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Small
    • Height: 5'7"
    • Weight: 120lbs

I used this jacket on a very chilly trip to the Tetons. I was reluctant about the pink, but it is so cute in person and I love the tan inside the jacket. I also think that the picture does not do this jacket justice as far as fit goes, it is extremely flattering! I tried a Small and I am 5'7 and 120lbs.

This jacket is awesome! I got it for a weekend up in Park City. I needed something that was lightweight and could wear around walking up and down main street. I wore a hoodie underneath, so I sized up to make sure I had a little more wiggle room. But this jacket kept me super warm and packs down to fit in your bag.

I am considering purchasing this jacket for travel in January. I will be backpacking through Nepal, Northern Vietnam and Laos and therefore require a jacket that is warm and lightweight. I’ll be spending a lot of time hiking and outdoors... Do you think this jacket is most suitable (and warm enough) whilst being light weight, or should I look into a lightweight down jacket instead?

Thank you very much in advance,

    Hi Sarah,

I spent last January in Thailand, so can speak to Laos and Vietnam pretty well. You likely won't need an insulated jacket at all while you are in those countries in January. You should make sure you get a waterproof rain jacket however. As far Nepal goes, that will depend on what elevation you're at. This may be plenty, but if you're at high altitude you'll need something warmer. I recommend chatting or calling in with one of us so we can help get you ready for your trip. Sounds really fun!
