I love this jacket!

I bought this expecting not to use it until next year but it has literally become my go to everyday layer for yard work to campfire sitting and dog walking. It's cut generously and is comfy and stylish.

If you're thinking about it- buy it.

Not What I Expected

Not very roomy. Sleeves are long enough, but it is tight through the shoulders. This is much more lightweight than I expected. I cannot layer beneath it because it fits tight through the shoulders. This jacket was described as a "chore jacket" but it does not allow me to move at the shoulders to perform "chore activities".

Fits like a box

Having bought several OR jackets before and having experience that a size medium works really well for me, I was surprised that this jacket to fit so awkwardly. It has short hem and sleeves and is wide in the body - as if OR designers think that humans are shaped like a square.

Short arms only in this jacket

The arms on this jacket are at least 3" longer than the other jacket purchased.

Quality and durability

Great quality and durability. Love the fit too. Just wish it had side hand pockets.

Better than expected!

Great jacket! I would have given this wonderful jacket five stars if it had a zipper instead of buttons. Having said that, being very hard on my jackets, I like the idea that (hopefully) these buttons will last longer than my zippers have. I'm 5 foot 4 and weigh less than 120 lbs. I would consider myself having an athletic build. My jacket was a Small. It fit perfectly with enough room to move and layer a sweatshirt, long sleeve t-shirt and tank top underneath. Sleeves were a bit long but it's great when I'm working. Kept the alfalfa, hay and snow out. I received it just in time for our-40° wind chills a couple weeks ago here in South Dakota. It did way better than I expected. We have a farm so I had to go out everyday in this weather. It kept the moisture off during the snows and the wind out during the 30+ mile an hour gusts. The nylon interior on the sleeves help my sweatshirts slip in pretty easily. The looser collar allowed for my neck Gator. The longer length in the torso kept the wind off my backside. Just enough fleece in the torso to keep me warm and still allow for good movement. The only thing I don't like are the pockets being so small and the only one with a button cannot hold the phone. There is no interior pocket. Add and large inside pocket, deeper outside pockets with flaps and it's a perfect work jacket that looks nice enough to stay on for my weekly trips to town!

Some excellent features, but needs improvement

This is a nice chore coat. I love it for gathering wood and other farm-esque chores. It's oversized so it fits over a puffy, which is great for dog walking in cooler temps. I even wore it in pouring rain and I did not get wet thanks to the fabric and wax coating; however, this is where I began to notice the design flaws. I agree with other reviewers that it should have snap buttons for easy entry and exit from the coat, but in addition to snaps, it should also have a two-way zipper under the snaps to help stay dry. Also, the lack of secure pockets is unfortunate, it would be great to have zipper pockets under the flat drop pockets at the front waist. Since it's a chore coat it would be nice to have gusseted armpits for axe swinging and feed bag lifting. Lastly, the fleece isn't as high quality as I would have liked. It would have been great to have a heavy sherpa fleece or syntehtic fill instead. Overall, great coat. Size down if you are planning on wearing this out on the town, normal size for choring around, especially if you like to to layer up! I do sincerly hope that OR continues to pursue the workwear realm, because the fabric is awesome! I'd love to test out a better design for field biology work.
