superb lightweight packable rain jacket
i use the Helium Rain Jacket in addition to a 700 fill goosedown esp. when i ride out into wilderness. while it will not protect against sheer downpours, it will if you're under a tree! plus, in conjunction with the puffer i stay super warm and dry while packing small and light. imperative on a horse!

Light, packable, useful at any time
I'm 5'5", 130lbs, bought size M Yellow. Fits as expected, enough room to layer it over a light jacket and use it as a windbreaker or outer shell. So far I did not test it out in a downpour. The yellow tone is beautiful as displayed on the photo. The fabric is slightly shiny with a very nice texture. I like the adjustable drawcord hem for a snugger fit. I definitely recommend it.

Barely water repellent
Rain drops falling on the jacket get through the fabric. I got caught in a heavy rain and got totally soaked. It fits beautifully and would work for a wind breaker and very light rain protection, not a rain jacket at all.

Not waterproof
OR usually has high quality products that I love. Unfortunately, this jacket is not waterproof. I ended up soaking wet after wearing it in the rain. Would not recommend this jacket, despite its lightweight and packable features. Really disappointed in this item.

Glorified windbreaker
Great color and weight. Wish it had pockets for my hands. Biggest bummer. -- I was out in a downpour and got soaked to the skin. (My bra was like a wet swimming suit.) Worthless as a raincoat. Cute windbreaker.

At last! A lightweight rain jacket that actually fits!
If you know you know. Some women just need more space in their jackets, and rain jackets I've worn in the past are either too tight somewhere, or not flexible or breathable, or too poor quality to last. This jacket is none of those things. I love the fit, the way I don't overheat or freeze in it (and I stay dry!). The hood is large enough to cinch down over my brimmed hat and small enough to pull tightly against a steady wind. I've yet to have any moisture seep through. I would have loved a chest pocket but I do appreciate the roominess and the easy zippers on the hand pockets. In short, this is the rain jacket I've been looking for for years. No more clamminess or dull colours; I'm almost looking forward to rainy days on trail now!

Loose elastic wrist cuffs, color not quite what expected
I mainly got this for MTB and chose it because it's lightweight and I trust OR. Ordered rhubarb. Pretty disappointed that the cuffs are just loose elastic with no Velcro and even brand new they slide partway down my hand. This is not going to work well for biking or climbing. Besides getting in the way, I expect water will come in the sleeves while riding. Also, while this was not a deal breaker like the cuffs, the color is more cherry red than muted as I thought from the pic. Sorry OR, I remain a fan generally but am disappointed by this jacket.

Perfect packable on hand shelter from the rain!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As a rock climber, I need my adventures to be flawless & refined. The Helium rain jacket packs down into its pocket & I can clip it to my harness for instant on hand protection from the unpredictable Colorado weather. I'm often stuck between a small & medium in other brands sizing but this is a perfect fit. I'm 5'4", 126lbs 36" chest & it is Perfect! I love the color too!

Infinite guarantee is a lie
I have used OR gear since the military but my wife has a rain jacket that doesn't keep out the rain anymore and they offered her $50. You can hardly buy a tee shirt for that. I have noticed many changes over the last several years with the service and quality of their gear. I will not buy anymore of this garbage and will just buy Sitka gear.

It wasn't waterproof.
Bought this at REI p a few weeks ago. I wanted to love this jacket. It is light weight, is from a reputable company, has nice features and is a lovely lilac color. Unfortunately, the jacket leaked. I just came home from a short hike where I was caught in a rain storm. The rain soaked through the arm area and most of the rest of the jacket. Remarkably, the contents of one pocket ( where I kept ymy driver's license) remained dry. But that was it. I was out under heavy, protective foliage for a short period of time, so this should not have happened. Before writing this review I actually checked OR's literature and this jacket was supposed to be waterproof. I was supposed to take it up Mt. Washington in two weeks, which I won't. I don't want to risk getting wet there.
