    Great fabric, sizing issues

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'10"
    • Weight: 175lbs

I've owned several pairs of the Ferrosi pants. They're my favorite lightweight summer climbing and hiking pants.

This review is of the most recent version (2019). The fabric is still awesome. Lightweight, stretchy, breathable, and durable. This is where they shine.

The rear pockets no longer have zips. I'd prefer zipped pockets on technical pants to prevent losing stuff. But that's not a deal breaker.

The front pockets have always been a bit shallow. I'd prefer them to be slightly deeper for modern phones.

My biggest issue is the sizing, which is why I only give these 4 stars. I normally wear a 32 in all pants/shorts. On my previous Ferrosi pants, the 32 was always a tiny bit big in the waist, but not too bad. I always wore a lightweight belt just to keep things nice and snug. If anything I wish OR had snugged up the waist a bit so I didn't have to wear a belt at all times. Sizing down would have been tough as the smaller sizes were tight in the hips and thighs. They went the opposite way. These pants are absolutely huge in the waist for a 32. I have a ton of extra room around the waist. I can easily pull them down around my knees even when they're buttoned!

Consider sizing down in these. Don't just order your old size without trying them on. Otherwise, they're still great pants.

    Comfy Pants

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

These pants are comfy! Great range of pockets to use with a harness or not. The bottom pant leg adjustability is great. I like a longer pant leg so I can still wear them with sandals and just tighten them so I don't step on the hems. Super breathable and thin. Fairly weather resistant. Great for anything, anytime!

    Comfy, fast drying, terrible durability

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Height: 5'10"
    • Weight: 200lbs

Purchased a pair for scrambling and wanted something that was light, wind resistant, comfy, and durable. It hit the mark on everything but the last part. Wore them summiting the Middle Sister in June and sitting on down on the cinder crap piles in the saddle left noticeable tears in the seat. Brushing against some cinder crap up towards the last 500ft resulted in more tiny subtle tears. It is doubtful they’d last a season of central Oregon scramble adventures.

Hey Eli, Thank you for the review. The durability is what it can be for the lightweight aspect of these pants. That is a key benefit of these pants, but there is some sacrifice in abrasion durability if that is what is most important to you. For a pant that offers something a bit more efficient in durability, you will be sacrificing light weight features. A totally valid option here would be the OR Voodoo Pant. The Ferrosi Pants are best for hiking, travel, and more light-durability adventures. The Voodoo gives a greater degree of durability with a more dense fabric.

    Thank you,

    Leta

Relaxed fit , comfortable and practical

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: 30x32
    • Height: 5'11"
    • Weight: 158lbs

I have a couple of the short version of these pants as well as the long. They run just a slight larger. ( I’m 5’11 and 158 lbs). Size 30x32 fit me perfect and OR finally added a 32 inch inseam this year (formerly, 30x30 was only available). The material is durable, flexible, and light , great for warm climates.

    Durable breathability

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 31x32
    • Height: 5'11"
    • Weight: 185lbs

The entire Ferrosi line from OR is incredible breathable and comfortable for your most dynamic, demanding outdoor activities. These shorts are no exception. I recommend them for anything from hiking to climbing and anything in between. Note that if you have thunder thighs, you should size up about an inch at the waist.

    Hardly Notice Wearing Them

    • Size Bought: 30
    • Height: 5'9"
    • Weight: 160lbs

I swear these things are like a second skin. They move well due to the nylon and spandex construction, breathe well, have 3 zippered pockets (1 on the left, 2 in the back), and crush it on hikes/climbing/adventures of all sorts. I wear these climbing, hiking, and I'm taking them to Peru for adventures too. I'm impressed how well they've held up against scarpes and brush too.

I can be anywhere between a 30 and a 32 and a 30 is perfect here. I wouldn't say size down for sure, but that's my experience.

    Adventure pants!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 32x32
    • Height: 6'0"
    • Weight: 175lbs

These pants are very lightweight, comfortable, and stretchy. They breathe very well making them a great option for summer hiking/climbing when you want a longer pant to protect the legs. These pants are durable, the ripstop material is strong and won't be phased by branches or from the wall when you are climbing. They are so stretchy that even the hardest yoga positions wouldn't be an issue. They are water resistant and have a nice side pocket with a zipper to keep the phone safe on a climb, along with the traditional pockets. I am 6'0 175 and usually wear a 32x32 and a 32x32 worked just great for me.

    Adventure pants!

So light, you'll think you're naked

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 34/32
    • Height: 5'10"
    • Weight: 190lbs

The Ferrosi Hoody is made of some magic stuff - super light and breathable, yet highly wind resistant and durable. It is also stretchy making it comfortable during high activity... so what does any of that have to do with these pants? The Ferrosi pants are incredible. They are impossibly light - so light you'll forget you're wearing pants. They are super stretchy and thin, and move incredibly well, yet remain amazingly protective and abrasion resistant. Again, this fabric is some magical stuff. But it works.

    Lightweight

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Height: 5'8"
    • Weight: 160lbs

These pants feel noticeably thinner and lighter than the other pants I wear for climbing/hiking. I mostly wear Kuhl renegade or Prana stretch zion, I love these OR pants, they are very breathable, comfortable, and lightweight bought a second pair after buying these on a whim.

    Too big

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: 36x32
    • Height: 5'11"
    • Weight: 195lbs

loved the "crag" version of these, unfortunately the updated version is much larger, longer and baggier, and would be too hard to tailor. Returned them before wearing. Oh well, I'll keep wearing my shredded pair.

    Great all around pant

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 30" x 32"
    • Height: 5'11"
    • Weight: 160lbs

I have put a pair of these through just about everything awful you could possibly do to a pair of pants and they have survived! From rough granite to desert cracks to the alpine, and they have been great. After well over a year of constant wear they have no holes, no worn spots, and are jsut as comfortable as the day I bought them. I have worn them on the hottest days with them cinched up like capris and layered up under them on sub freezing days. They are basically my go to pant for most everything. The only issue is that the zipper on the leg popped off just recently, but that could have been my fault for stuffing a large phone into it while climbing. But after the wear these have seen if that is all that has gone wrong I will take it. I just bought another pair because I loved them so much.

    Summer/outdoor pants

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: 32x30
    • Height: 5'7"
    • Weight: 150lbs

This pant is breathable, light, quick drying. It will help keep the sun off my legs while keeping me cool in the summer (I don't like wearing shorts). I wear this pant around the house, gym, and hiking. I will definitely take this pant for traveling as my only pant. I wear this pant almost daily now unless I'm going to work or going somewhere "nice". In colder weather below 40, I would wear a base layer underneath to keep my warm.
The only problem I have is sizing. I'm 5'7" and weigh 150-155 lb. Everything I wear is a size 31. This pant is not offered in 31, so I ordered up thinking this pant would shrink a little after wash/dry. Unfortunately, a 32 was way too big around the waste and never shrank. It looks really baggy on me. Some people like that, but I like the fit closer to my body. Although my 32" is doing well physically, I think I want to buy a size 30" for my preferred fit.

    First choice pant

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 6'0"
    • Weight: 175lbs

I love the fit and function of these pants. They're light enough for late summer in the desert. The thigh pocket holds a phone perfectly. I have several pairs and they're my go-to until it's time for insulated snow pants. Climb well, hike well, dry quickly. I wish they hadn't shrunk the hand pockets on the newest generation, but it's not enough of an issue to change my rating.

A little large for my liking

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Height: 5'11"
    • Weight: 224lbs

As always I love the ferrosi material and can never recommend the products of this line enough. But I have found that these pants tend to run large and had to return my first pair that I ordered in the same size as my others pairs of pants, I was swimming in these, I also ended up with a leg length that it too much for me. I would give it another chance in the future and just make sure that I order a shorter leg length

    Another win for OR

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: 36X30
    • Height: 5'11"
    • Weight: 200lbs

If you’re like me, and value comfort, function and style, then these pants are for you. It’s awesome to be able
To go to the office, present at meetings, and then do a 10 mile trail to my campsite in the Ozarks all in the same day and without changing pants! Need another pair. I did have to return the pair that I originally bought in my normal size (36Wx32L) as the length was at least 4” too long. As usual, BC made that a totally painless process.

    Nice lightweight softshell pant

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 34x32
    • Height: 6'0"
    • Weight: 192lbs

Nice lightweight softshell for warmer weather when you need a long pant for some abrasion protection. Total freedom of movement. Have used summer bush whacking in the northeast and were perfect. Plan to also use on my property doing yard work when I need to cover up for tick protection. Bought a second pair. Also own the OR Prusik pant which are nice but intermediate thickness fabric.

    Strange front pockets

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Size Bought: 30 x 32
    • Height: 5'9"
    • Weight: 145lbs

I had read reviews and down research on the pants, though the front pockets were too shallow for traveling and putting materials in that I needed. The pants are well designed and the material is great. If you don't mind small front pockets, then you could get these pants.

    Sizing Runs Small

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: 32x32
    • Height: 6'0"
    • Weight: 185lbs

I read all the reviews before buying this product, most people said that these run on the larger size which is not true at all. I normally wear a 32x32, I'm 6' 185 lbs and I would recommend anyone getting these to go bigger. I will be purchasing the 34x32 when these get returned, other than that the pants seem very comfortable even though they were tight around my waist.
