Excellent mitten when used with shell
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times

I previously bought a pair of OR Mercury Mittens 4 years ago but the insulating liner in those packed out and were no longer very warm. Fortunately the insulating liner in those mittens was removable. I bought these mittens to use as an insulating layer under the outer GoreTex shell of the Mercury Mittens and these work amazingly! They are super warm. Be aware though that these alone are just down and so they are very breathable, and in any wind they will not be warm on their own.

Not warm.
I thought these would be warmer than a pair of knit wool mittens I own. But that is definitely not the case! I went back to the knit mittens!

Product decent buy at store
This product is decent, albeit overpriced. Coloring on palms fading a lillte. I recommend never ordering anything on line as they charge sales tax on clothing apparel that in my state is not taxable. When asked about it, I was provided with an explanation (in a very discourteous manner) about nexus something or other.

LOVE!!
As warm as a mitt can be, but breathable, too. Hoping OR will make a waterproof option one day.

Worth every penny!
I use these often for times when im sitting still in cold weather. For the weight and packable size they are amazing. I will be sitting in frigid weather looking through binoculars for hours. Without these mittens it would be impossible. They go on easy over a glove liner. They can be removed easily if you find yourself needing more dexterity. A bargain in price, a bargain in weight to warmth. Must have.

These mittens claim to be warm. Huge disappointment! They are not warm at all. I have had $5 mittens work better than these. It is just now getting cold where I live. No snow on ground yet. Today it was 54 degrees out. I wore these and my hands were cold the entire time. Never warmed up. Imagine what they will be like when there is 3 feet of snow ? I have arthritis in my fingers. My hands are extra sensitive to the cold. I'm talking about unbearable pain from cold. I need mittens that are warm. I threw away the plastic bag they came in so I can't return them for a refund. Not happy at all. These are junk. Why do they need a plastic bag? To resell them as new?? I cant figure that out. Money wasted that I dont have.

Not Warm
I bought these mittens as a lightweight packable option for late season hunting. As much as I love outdoor research, these mittens are not it. They do not retain heat whatsoever or keep your hands warm. Most of the cold comes through the palms where there is no insulation. The only way I have found them useful is when I shove a few hot hands in the mitten. Overall, very disappointed.
