Size Up!
Used the OR size chart, measured my hands, etc. Size was still off. These run small. Had to return, and didn't have time to get a replacement.

They prevent frost bite but don't keep you warm
These will keep your hands from getting frost bite but I lose all feeling in my hands after a few hours outside. Not made for prolonged outdoor usage below 40 degrees. The synthetic fill liner loses all insulation after a season and needs to be replaced.

One of the warmest mittens
These mittens are unbelievably warm and good. They are durable, warm, and cozy. They have enough room inside the liner to toss in a hand warmer too. I used them in -5 F in a windy day (the coldest day of WA in a decade!) for ski touring. As a person that has 10+ pairs of gloves/mittens (in forever search for perfect gloves), and has suffered frostnibs before, I cannot recommend these more. The only problem is dexterity, which I had opted out the moment I chose mittens over gloves. I have Arete gloves for mountaineering, which are similar (but less warm) with more dexterity.

Brilliant
Quite frankly the Best cold weather mitts/gloves/hand wear I have ever used. I have been searching for the elusive holy grail of hand wear as I suffer with the cold but I spend time in the cold. These mitts are just outstanding in EVERY WAY. Thank you

Sized for miniature humanoids.
Starting out in grandpa's hunting and fishing camps in southern Louisiana, I have hiked, climbed, paddled...you name it, my entire life and all over the US and Canada. I bought these mittens to climb Kilimanjaro for my 65th birthday next year. Every pair of gloves I have ever bought were a size large and quite comfortable. According to OR's glove sizing chart for this mitten, I wear a size medium. I could barely get it on, and my thumb would only go about 85% into the thumb hole. I did previously purchase an OR waterproof liner glove in the near past. It too was a size large and likewise I could barely get it on. But since it is supposed to be a liner glove I didn't think too much of it. I might add that over the past half a century I have started boycotting Patagucci, The Lost Face, Rodent, etc. The last two companies I am willing to do business with is Outdoor Research and Mountain Hardwear. But the fact that I have to pay return shipping to return the Alti Mitts means that I will now restrict my outdoor clothing purchases to Mountain Hardwear.

Not That Warm, Odd Liner Fit
These mittens are not nearly as warm as all the hype says. The thin liners do not have very much insulation and are held in place by annoying Velcro. Yet the mittens overall seem very bulky and poor fitting. Supposedly you can also remove the liners to use separately but then the Velcro catches and damages everything it touches. Also the fabric is very thin so will tear. These mittens just aren't good, especially considering the ridiculously high cost.

Love these mitts-but fit small.
(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) I LOVE these mitts. These mitts came on a ski trip across Baffin Island with me and they did a great job keeping my hands warm. For an average day you can go without the liners. My only caution is that they fit small. I wear a ladies M in everything, but the men's alti II L feel like my original women's alti in S/M.

These mitts are the best!
I wore these mitts for an 8 day hut to hut ski trip in Finland north of the Arctic Circle. They were too warm. That is a great problem to have. I ended up just using he liner 95% of the time. In a wind storm I used the whole system and it was perfect.

The Alti II Gore-Tex Mitts shell
The outer shells are great; warm, seems durable, I like the drawstring, easy to pack and carry. However, the palm area of one of the removable insulated PrimaLoft liners ripped right away. Seriously they ripped on my first use, and I don't even know how, I didn't hold anything with just the liners, I didn't try opening anything with just the liners. Basically, the liners seem too easy to rip, cause mine did, and I used these gloves for one weekend.

The XL gloves are too small
The fit is too small. Doing any work, the glove gives you no dexterity. As you try to flex your fingers you can not hold on to anything.
