I can see my house from here.

Pursue far off alpine lakes in the Alpine Hooded Down jacket. It's loaded with durability, weather resistance, and warmth to keep you comfortable as you climb to new heights. Durable Pertex Quantum Pro on the sleeves and hood stand up to abrasions you'll encounter on your trip while the water resistant face fabric keeps the 800 fill down insulation dry because dry down is warm down. The baffles on the jacket are quilted to allow the down to provide warmth to the max by eliminating cold spots that often occur in quilted down jackets.

Protection from the environment and elements isn't the only thing the Alpine jacket provides. It's brimming with features you'll rely on in the high mountains. For example, reaching for high hand holds is easy with the Dynamic Reach under arm panels that offer you freedom of movement. When the wind really picks up, pull the hood up over your helmet to prevent your precious body heat from escaping. The hem and cuffs also aid in keeping the heat in with elastic material and a drawcord. Additionally, your pockets sit slightly higher than normal so you can still access them with a pack or harness on, and the whole jacket stuffs into its left hand pocket at the end of the trip for easy transport off the mountain.

    • Warm down jacket to take on high alpine adventures in comfort
    • 800-fill down is responsibly sourced and offers compressible warmth
    • Baffle construction eliminates cold spots for full body warmth
    • Durable fabric in the sleeves and hood withstand alpine abrasions
    • Dynamic Reach underarm panels offer mobility for high hand holds
    • Elastic drawcord hem and cuffs seal out the elements and trap heat
    • Pockets sit slightly higher to accommodate a pack or harness
    • Hood fits over helmets to prevent body heat from escaping

My girlfriend is the coldest human I've ever met. She can be cold on an 80-degree day. I say this because I want to understand my amazement when she tells me she is not only warm, but very warm, toasty warm in this jacket when it's freezing out. The 800 fill down offers amazing compression and astounding levels of warmth.

The features on this jacket are plentiful and remarkable. The jacket only weighs a pound and can compress easily. The slightly higher pockets are hardly noticeable when out walking the dog or around town, but when we have backpacks on, those pockets are still fully accessible. She hasn't taken the jacket skiing yet, so the oversized/helmet-compatible hood isn't her favorite feature. She's not bothered by having to adjust the hood though as the cinch makes it easy.

It's a tremendous piece for cold days whether you're being active or not!

I never want to take this jacket off!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Large

It actually feels like wearing a sleeping bag! This jacket is the warmest and most comfortable jacket I have ever worn! It is so puffy, but compresses down and fits into the pocket of the jacket. I have trouble finding jackets that are long enough for my arms and torso, but this jacket is plenty long. It covers my bottom which is such a nice feature and keeps me so warm. This jacket is perfect for belaying on cold crag days and the pockets are slightly higher so you can still access them with a harness. I recommend this jacket to anyone and everyone and just bought one for my friend and he loves it just as much. 10/10! OR nailed it!

    Like wearing a sleeping bag!

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Small
    • Height: 5'2"
    • Weight: 120lbs

This jacket is amazingly warm, comfortable, and thoughtful in design. Some aspects that I love: large hood for helmets, all the deep and big pockets (2 on the outside, a side pocket, and inner mesh pockets), it is long enough to cover my butt, the sleeves fit me almost perfectly in length, and it is so toasty. I have a small (5’2 and 120lbs) and it fit perfectly and there’s even some room to spare for light layers underneath. I haven’t tested this item on any winter adventure, but I have no doubt that this could keep me warm in freezing temperatures. Awesome jacket!

    Odd fit

    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: L
    • Height: 5'
    • Weight: 14lbs

This is a beautiful coat and I’ve no doubt that it would keep me very warm on my walks here in nys but the fit is off...or my shape is! It was snug around the belly...I do have a mod pouch tum....and the sleeves were about three inches too long. I’m 5 ft weight 148. It’s lightweight but very bulky tho I was not going for a slimming look but warmth. Blue was a beautiful color, disappointed I have to return. I also liked that it was a little long length. Hard to find a longer non fitted jacket these days. Returning was easy. Good customer service.

Susan, I am sorry this did not work for you. Have you tried our Transcendent Down Parka? How about our Emerelda Parka? Those may be a better bet for you - longer, nice shape. This one is designed as a belay jacket, not as a long walking parka. I hope you are able to try the ones I mentioned! and many thanks for your review -

Great belay jacket and puffy for skiing

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

I've been using this jacket for backcountry skiing and alpine climbing at 14,000' and below. Also took it to the West Buttress of Denali, where it was my second biggest puffy above 17,000'. Things I love about this jacket: 1) Fit. I am 5'8", 145 lbs, probably about 36" bust. Medium works well for me. Good length on the arms. Hood fits well over multiple other hoods or climbing helmet. The jacket is long and covers most of my bum, adding to the overall warmth. This is a big plus, especially while skiing. Because of it's length, if wearing under a harness, it doesn't creep out of harness. If wearing over harness, the ability to unzip from the bottom makes it easy to belay with and still keep your bum covered in the back. If I'm only wearing a base layer, it is a tad big, but not really. Wearing with other layers, I don't find it big. The sizing seems right for the jacket's intended purposes. 2) Pockets! Functional and just the right amount. Both the internal and external chest pockets are sizeable and will accommodate larger phones, GPS and compass, medium point and shoot cameras, etc. Big internal mesh pockets! Good for warming/drying gloves, quick storage of skins. Good hand pockets. 3) Simplicity. This jacket just does it's job. It has what it needs, it packs down well, and doesn't fool around with unnecessary features. Stoked!

    Awesome belay jacket!

This is the jacket women have been asking for. Good fitting for over top of all your layers whenever you need to stay warm and comfortable in colder temps! Good length to cover your butt as well.
