Why We Like The Ocun Sigma Climbing Shoe

When standing on razor-thin edges, maintaining tension with cheeky toe hooks, and doing so for multiple pitches, we're thankful to have the Ocun Sigma Climbing Shoe laced to our feet. The unique split-sole design features a sole that extends two-thirds of the way toward the heel rather than stopping short of the arch, giving us the support we need to fight off fatigue on long climbs while still maintaining flexibility for reliable hooks. Equipped with a dual-layer midsole, this shoe not only drives power to the toe but has a midsole layer that curves up over the sides to also drive power into the edges. The closure system has the laces offset, eliminating pressure points on the top of our foot and making room for a generous 3D-printed toe patch.

Power Shoe

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

The Sigma has to be one of the best shoes for edges and pockets. I've never had a shoe that has been so supportive specifically in regards to powering off my big toe. While it's a stiff and supportive shoe, the back is soft giving it a bit of flexibility when smearing is needed. While I would say this shoe is meant for a very specific style of climbing/rock-type, it does have a surprising ability to function well in all-round climbing conditions.

Excellent shoe!

With the important caveat that I haven’t climbed with the Sigmas outside yet (something that I will remedy soon), I have really been impressed with this unique model indoors. These shoes are aggressive yet also soft and pretty comfortable. They do, however, run quite small. Think your street shoe size as a starting point. They edge very well (as advertised). Where I was pleasantly surprised was how well they smear and how they stick on awkward (angled foot placements). Along with my La Sportiva Skwamas, these will likely become my go to shoes for steeper routes.
