    Storm days ain't no thing.

It may be nuking outside, but you have the Norrona Women's Roldal Gore-Tex Insulated Jacket on, so all you see is sweet, sweet pow piling up. Insulated, waterproof, and with a longer cut for added protection, the Roldal will handle just about any weather the mountain can muster. Its Gore-Tex membrane with fully taped seams sheds moisture from snow and remains plenty breathable, so you aren't standing in the lift line shivering from all the sweat that built up from your last run. If you tend to run cold, you'll appreciate the PrimaLoft Silver insulation, which will make that usually bone-chilling lift ride seem a whole lot warmer. When you need to lose a little heat mid-run, open up the two underarm ventilation zips, and while you're at it, you might as well clear your foggy goggles with the included goggle wipe, because you're going to want to see the rest of this run, well, until that next face shot at least.

This ski jacket is long, which is rare and awesome. Pretty much covers the bum! It has a relaxed fit. If you are on the cusp, you could go either direction, just depending on the look you want. I am 5.8 - 135 and typically a medium in tops, sometimes small. I'm wearing the medium in this photo. I feel like I could go down a size if I wanted, especially since it's insulated, because I wouldn't need to wear much underneath. But, I like the fit of the medium too. I'm surprised the previous reviewer chose the large size. With how relaxed this jacket is, her measurements would definitely work with the medium.

This is a really solid jacket, ready for the worst situations. The insulation is nice, but you don't notice it. Not bulky at all!

    Superior Snowboarding Jacket

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This Norrona jacket is amazing. That is why I just bought my second one this season. It has kept me warm and dry through freezing rain, heavy snow storms, and powder day—all of which involved me falling and tumbling through snow. The detailing is super high quality (e.g., thumb inserts are this extremely thin insulated water resistant fabric which doesn’t snag and fits perfectly under my wrist guards). From a fashion sense it looks really good b/c it is long but not overly baggy. Plus it has the perfect number and size of pockets so i can carry everything i need for the day.

This jacket was so perfect. I was so nervous of being cold, and this jacket fit the bill. The hood completely covered my helmet (snowboarding). That gave my husband MAJOR jacket-envy. The hands on the sleeves make it super easy to put on gloves, and take off gloves. The length adds warmth to my legs without being too bulky. I was able to forgo buying lined bottoms. I am sold on this brand, and will look for it with any future purchase.

This jacket is cut beautifully and made from high quality materials (Gore-Tex and Primaloft are the best of the best), but the pastel-y blue color of the jacket in the photo is straight up, vivid royal blue with a sort of woven/twill look to the fabric. Check the video below for a more accurate color.

I'm 5'9" and the jacket hit me around mid/upper thigh, for sizing/length reference.

Do you have a good amount of layering room with this shell in the M? I am similar in specs to you (weigh about 5# more) and am looking for a shell that can take base/mid/down and that still has great mobility for skiing, and that also has very long sleeves. I expect this insulated jacket is cut similarly to the shell, which I am interested in. Wondering if I should size up to a L or if it will be too large - for reference, the FlyLow Billie in L was too large on me, sleeves/body too short in the M.

Hi Lisa! Glad you reached out!

I did have enough room for a light insulating layer (ie. Patagonia Nano Air or Arc'teryx Atom LT) in the medium, but as the jacket already packs in a good amount of PrimaLoft, I'm assuming the shell version would allow a bit more room for layering. The Roldal shell does have the same long silhouette and arms as the insulated version so I'd put my money on a medium for you, but I think a size large might provide the extra mobility you're looking for if you have a very lofty down or midlayer (for example, something like the Patagonia Hi-Loft or Arc'teryx Thorium).

If you're looking for a long Gore-Tex shell, the Arc'teryx Shashka in size L is slightly shorter than the Roldal, but would likely be a fabulous fit when layered--take a peek at that, too!

    Winter Ski Jacket

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Large
    • Height: 6'

This is a really nice ski jacket. Offers enough insulation to keep you warm while allowing room to layer underneath for the really cold days. The long cut of the jacket keeps the windy drafts out and is flattering as well. Plenty of pockets to stow what you need. Love the tethered synthetic towel to wipe off goggles! Brilliant! Runs true to size.

    So Much to Love!

If you're tall and/or have longer arms, this jacket is for you! I was looking for the perfect snowboarding jacket and this absolutely would have been it had the sleeves not been absurdly long on me! Other than that, it fit true to size.

It's waterproof and insulated, has wrist gaiters and a powder skirt, and enough pockets to keep all the things. I realllllllly wanted to love it and keep it, but I just couldn't get over having an extra few inches past my fingers.
