Major design flaws
I traded my Dagger 2P for this Hornet early this year in preparation of backpacking on Laugavegur trail, Iceland, and found out following. - Y shaped poles not strong enough - longer single pole couldn’t sustain strong wind. - The fly was cut too short. The first day at Landmannalaugar, strong wind gust 40 mph swept the sand and dirt from the camp ground and blew right through the fly into the tent. On the next day, it rained with strong wind resulting same situation. - guy lines too thin, weak (broken a couple) - ceiling pocket too small and shallow. Could not hold a headlamp.

Mixed feelings, small, pricey, and UL!
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- Size Bought:
- 2 Person
I've been researching ultralight tents for a while now. And, I settled with the NEMO Hornet Elite 2-Person Tent for a variety of reasons. I have mixed feelings about it... and I was even tempted to return it at one point. Please see my reasons below: 1) Small I studied the dimensions of the tent and measured my sleeping bags/pads before purchasing. This tent will *barely* fit 2 "mummy-sized" regular sleeping bags/pads. This tent will not fit 2 wide-sized bags or pads. I was very sad about this, since I bought this tent to share it with a friend or with my partner. However, I decided to keep it since it does serve as a great 1 person tent when I go on glacier climbs or solo overnight adventures. 2) Pricey AF Luckily, I snagged this while it was discounted. However, this product does come at a high price and I'm hoping it will be worth the money in the long run! Overall the quality seems very durable and I'm fairly satisfied with my purchase. 3) Ultra-Light (UL) It's definitely ultralight weight and I appreciate being able to split the weight. But, I do feel like it should be labeled as a 1 person tent instead of a 2 person tent.

Great tent!
I bought this tent for the JMT since my old tent had gotten messed up on a trip like 2 weeks before starting. I had originally just had the old version of the Nemo hornet and loved it, but needed a new tent. I wasn’t planning on getting the elite but it was the only one available last minute. But I’m so so glad I did! It was so light and insanely easy to set up. Everything that wasn’t my favorite about my old tent was fixed on this one! It only has one fly bar instead of two, these little things to be able to roll up your rainfly and mesh door and secure it, and the little tabs to click in your tent poles are a lot nicer now instead of the old plastic ones. I also really love how much netting there is. The only thing I didn’t like was I missed the black netting top to see the stars easier, and when I got my tent the mesh had come with a few pulls that slowly started to spread. I fixed it by getting clear duct tape and putting it on both sides of the pull and it hasn’t had any issues since! It was just annoying that it came with that. It ended up thunder storming during my trip and it was nonstop pouring rain (and wind) all night and my tent held up great! I didn’t get wet or condensation. I never had to readjust the guylines or stakes or anything. It was perfect! I also never got condensation, and had a lot of windy nights with no issues. Overall a great tent and I’m really glad I ended up getting it, especially since it’s so light! Side note, I used it as one person for the 2p and would definitely not recommend 2p in it. Like I’m 5’3 and just having my backpack in there with me took up so much space. I couldn’t imagine another person in there long term. Overall a great tent and would definitely recommend.

Very lightweight, durable, well designed tent
My Hornet Elite OSMO has been an excellent tent so far. Roomy ( I bought the two person), easy to set up and take down, plenty of thoughtful little design features like color coding of the poles and their inserts on the tent, clips to hold the doors open. I like free standing tents and this one seems to be a good one in all respects. I wouldn't have minded a pocket or two but that's a quibble and is also extra weight. Great job!

Great Backpacking Tent!
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
This tent is insanely light at just about 2lbs packed weight. It's equipped with two doors, it's 3-season, it's spacious, and it is so easy to set up. The OSMO fabric has changed the tent game!
