Excellent pack for walking to work
I'm very happy with this upgrade to my work backpack. I walk to and from work every day (~1.25 miles) and am finding it quite comfortable, even though it doesn't have a waist belt (though I wish it did). It fits a lot more than I expected, and comfortably fits my lunchbox (which itself comfortably fits a full 6 pack - though that's not what I'm having for lunch!) plus a raincoat, spare shoes, a few cans of sparkling water, and a few other things. The y-zip feature is awesome! (I don't think I could fit as much--especially not my lunchbox--without it.) It makes it easy to pack everything carefully, maximize what I can fit in the space, and access things inside without removing it all. I also used it as my carry-on bag recently and found that it fit and carried my laptop very well (which I normally leave at work, so it's not in my bag during my normal commute), and fit under the seat in front of me perfectly. It made it so easy to get out just what I wanted (e.g., my over ear headphones or my book) without having to spill all over my seat neighbor or the floor of the plane, even for someone who overpacks for flights (I like to have options for activities!). The two internal pockets are nice for storing small things like headphones or keys, and the brain is very roomy and easily stores things you want to access more often. I also really like the pink color. I waffled for a bit about whether I wanted a pink backpack (too girly?) and ended up picking it to maximize my visibility while I'm walking, and have ended up loving it! And the zippers are VERY high quality, and seem to be fully waterproof. I just wish it had a dedicated water bottle/coffee thermos sleeve, inside or outside. I've already had one incident where my coffee thermos spilled because the o-ring had shifted and I wasn't careful about keeping it upright.

Exactly the EDC Pack I was looking for!
This is my second Mystery Ranch pack, I love it! I needed a backpack for an everyday carry/gym bag/carry-on/day trips etc. and I decided on the Urban Assault 18. I'm really glad I did, I think it's the perfect size and the interior pockets make it super convenient to organize. The top pocket has a small clip that you can hook keys to. I love that it is water resistant. However, since the zipper is water resistant too it makes it a little difficult to open and close, but I think that is just because it's new! My other pack was the same way and it loosened up after some use. One thing I do find a little odd is that the velcro strap on the inside of the pack to keep the laptop pouch closed also looks like it could be used for a water bladder, but there isn't a slot for the water bladder hose to come out of? Most of the time I wouldn't need to use a water bladder with this pack, so it's definitely not a deal breaker, but thought it was worth mentioning!

UA18 & UA21
I have a black one of each - the 18L is my EDC for summer and the 21L for winter. I carry a puffy and a hard shell in my winter kit, all else being equal. After having carried packs for a living as an active duty light infantryman & guide, these are the packs I use and these are the packs I recommend…every time, all the time.

Great summit/climbing pack
Even though it’s not designed for it I bought this bag for climbing. I cut the camel back pocket out and removed the rigid frame sheet(left the foam pad). Got the bag down to 22oz. Similar sized, ultralight climbing bags are only half a pound-ish lighter. That makes the ME pretty light considering how durable it is. It’s also much more comfortable than similar sized climbing bags. I fit a full trad rack, harness, shoes, chalk bag, puffy, shell, Nalgene, first aid kit and snacks in it with careful packing. You can easily attach an ice axe or crampons with a little webbing. I like the Vice color because it’s very visible in the alpine.

Perfect EDC
Great EDC bag. Perfect size with just the right amount of pockets in the right places. It’s so good my wife stole it from me.

Excellent for women's bag
Got this for my wife for our upcoming trips abroad. We just got back from the Caribbean and had a few overnight layovers. I instinctively always pack additional clothes and overnights in my carry on (mystery ranch 2 day assault pack) and also threw some of her stuff in as well. When we got hit with an overnight delay she instantly loved the idea of the travel carry on bag and wanted the same thing but "her size". The urban assault 18 fits the bill. Just as rugged and comfortable as my 2 day assault pack but without the bells and whistles and MOLLE. Enough for her to pack everything she needs for comfort and a 'sudden' overnight. My wife is 5' even and it's just about the perfect size where it's not too bulky. This bag would make an excellent commuter bag, beach bag, or 'bare bones' go bag of your an overseas worker. If you would like to have more gear and a good change of clothes and some comforts, go for the 2 day assault bag.

Perfect for Hybrid Imperfection….
I needed a better mousetrap to commute on foot back and forth a few times a week from the UWS to Midtown Manhattan and back. Urban Assault, indeed. This is the perfect pack to mule the minimal patrol items to what is now at best a FOB - what was before Central Command. Thanks MR, I have very fond memories of what I accomplished with my Dana Design expedition pack. This rig will serve me just as well, for a very different mission.

I just got back from my cruise where I use is bag for my trip and excursions and it worked perfectly. I got the smaller one and I’m glad I did . Wasn’t bulky yet I could carry all my fun gear and stuff.

Will this bag pack flat? I would like to use it as a daypack and pack it inside my regular 35L Travel bag.

Hello, Is this backpack waterproof or water resistant? As autumn and winter will soon begin, I wonder if I can be out with the backpack without the contents soaked. I want to make sure it holds up in various weather conditions as I often hike.
