Explore snowy terrain, with Lightning speed and sure traction.

When it comes to heading off trail in snowy conditions, make sure you bring along the Men's Lightning Explore Snowshoes from MSR. The ballistic nylon decks and 360-degree traction frames provide incredible durability and control in any condition you might encounter. Axis Gait technology allows you to adjust the bindings laterally, independent of the frame, to help provide a good fit and even stride throughout your hike. Pivot crampons keep your feet and ankles comfortable through variable terrain, while the Ergo Televator heel-risers ensure that your calves won't be getting overly tired. Modular flotation tails (sold separately) can be attached for when you're carrying a heavier load through deep snow.

Seem similar to 10+ year old Tubbs

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I haven't noticed any real difference between these and my first pair of snowshoes I purchased 10+ years ago - Tubbs that were about 2/3 the price of these MSRs. Maybe I'll notice a difference if/when I get onto steep hard packed/icy conditions. In soft or very deep snow (even on inclines) I haven't noticed any difference with these - nothing remarkable.

    10" Straps Are Available...

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The 2016 snowshoes using the Men’s HyperLink binding (Revo Explore & Lightning Explore men’s models) are now coming with two additional 10” straps to accommodate customers with bigger feet and larger boots. IN fact, since the Hyperlink Snowshoe binding has been produced (2 seasons now) 10” strap kits are available free of charge from MSR and can be installed easily by the user. Please Note: the 2016 (current season) version has the straps tucked between the two snowshoes.

Goat Beanie, MSR Snowshoe, OR Ga

Here is a three-fer! Skylar takes good care of me. I feel like an outdoor ad for Backcountry.com! This is a threeFer: Nordic Goat Beanie, OR Expedition Gaiters, and MSR Explorer Snowshoes - all bought from Backcountry.com. I went snow shoeing Tuesday evening with a full moon - in a cloudless sky with no wind and the minus 3 degree crisp temperature with friends - made this a perfect New Hampshire winter. :-) My equipment made for a comfortable evening. The beanie stood up well in this below zero weather with the gaiters and snowshoes handling the 40 inches of snow. Check up my day-time action snowshoe video http://youtu.be/9zfIKg9Obx4

    excellent climber

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

these are hands down the grippiest snowshoes available. The entire perimeter is a toothed ring that provides grip. additional toothed supports cross the bottom of the shoe. the crampon is sharp and will cut into ice.

I actually used the MSR Lightning Ascent Evo (same snowshoe with a different binding) to climb avalanche gulch on Mt. Shasta (where most people use crampons.) If you do this, make sure you're holding an axe for self arrest! the point is, these things DO NOT SLIP.

When do you expect the 25ers to arrive and how long does the Jan50 promo last?

Steve, they should arrive before the end of the month. Unfortunately, the Jan50 promo only applies to outlet items, not full-price items, so these snowshoes would not be eligible. Please feel free to reach out if there are any other questions I can assist you with-- 801-736-6399 or llabar@backcountry.com.

Do you have these in 25" ?

    Undulater,

At the moment we don't have any in stock but we've got a shipment of the 25"ers coming to us soon.

Let me know if you'd like me to watch our inventory and notify you when they arrive or if you've got any other questions on snowshoes!

Which tails do I order with the MSR Lightning Explore Men's showshoe?
