Sometimes you don't have to choose.
When you're having a hard time deciding between your fleece jacket and your softshell, pull on the Mountain Hardwear Mountain Tech II Men's Jacket, and get the best of both worlds. The AirShield fleece body cuts down on wind chill, but is still plenty breathable enough for tromping around the woods, and the softshell shoulders and arms provide some extra protection from moisture and resist abrasion from your backpack straps. Pack- and harness-compatible pockets make it convenient for climbing and backpacking trips, and waterproof zippers help keep your valuables dry.

- Q & A
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
- Fit: Runs small
- Size Bought: medium
Overall fit is small and restricted arm movement in shoulders and underarms.
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
- Fit: True to size
- Size Bought: Large
The fabric is so breathable I can wear it in almost any condition, plus it looks good when worn around town. I have worn it in a rain storm and it is extremely water repellant. I went with a size large just because I intended to do layering during cold hikes and it fits very comfortably. The only down side is that it doesn't have a hood for really turbulent weather, but it is still a great jacket.
