Why We Like The Mountain Hardwear Cloud Bank GORE-TEX Jacket

To combat winter's worst and still feel comfortable on bluebird days, we kit up with Mountain Hardwear's Cloud Bank GORE-TEX Jacket. The synthetic fill holds in our body heat to keep us cozy in frigid temps, while the underarm vents turn up the air when the sun is beating down and we're bootpacking to secret stashes. Constructed with recycled material and GORE-TEX's low-chemical membrane, this jacket keeps us dry through puking powder with little environmental impact. And as we revel in fresh powder turns, the snow skirt and wrist gaiters ensure spray doesn't pour in.

Didn’t work out

I found this too boxy looking, very unflattering on me. Went with my regular size medium. Also the armpit zippers were really uncomfortable. Perhaps that is due to the Gortex material. I ended up returning it.

Would highly recommend!

Pockets in all the right places. I haven't tested this yet with really inclement weather, but it is perfect for adding and subtracting layers. Size-wise it is generous. I often need a medium to make room for layers, particularly through the shoulders and bust, but the small has plenty of room and the internal sleeve cuffs are long enough! I am 5'7" and weigh 140, bust 37". It is warmer than I expected, but I'm happy about that--I run cold. The storm collar is JUST RIGHT, roomy but not gaping, soft on the inside, easy to find the zipper pull with gloves on. I skied four straight days using the storm collar zipped to the top, without a neck gaiter and it kept the wind out without getting chin chap. A great coat that does it's job perfectly.

Flattering and slimming

I have yet to wear this out, but I am love the cut of the jacket. It's flattering and slimming. Quite impressed with the design and cut. This jacket is on par with my lululemon gear.

Fully featured and durable!

Wore this jacket all last winter and am really happy with how it performed in dumping snow and even rain. Durable fabric and waterproof with enough insulation that it’s warm on reasonable days or colder days you can still layer. Pit zips are the best too! Also the flap pockets are big for all the things! I’m wearing size M and am 5’7 145 lbs.

Armpit zipper stabs upper arm

Purchased in two different sizes to try on. One fit just right and the other was bigger to be able to layer more. However on both jackets, the zipper on the armpit was stabbing my arm and was too uncomfortable to wear. Tried to reposition the fabric/zipper but it just made my arm more sore. Had to return.
