I had read many reviews on Mountain Hardwear's site about this jacket because there was nothing here. People are talking about running in this jacket? I don't see me grabbing for it if I was going out for a run, or any adventure where I would be sweating profusely.
Why I got the jacket? For travel. I wanted an insulated jacket that was breathable, that will shed water and is wind resistant , so I don't have to throw a shell on over it anytime it is raining, or blowing. One jacket to cover multiple bases and this thing does that.
The jacket has an athletic cut to it, the thumb holes really aren't that apparent if you just wear it normal. What I noticed with the liner material the most.. The neck area is super cozy and comfy. That is what is throwing me off thinking of it as a technical piece.
It is a nice jacket and one I am looking forward to wearing this winter in Europe. Thank god for the black color, as to not be standing out in the crowd like a sore thumb in the sea of black jackets everywhere, screaming.. "Hey, I am that American tourist with zero fashion sense and wearing a bright color jacket like that of small children". With the sale.. I might even grab a blue one for climbing .
I think it is a nice jacket for anyone who wants a jacket for semi active endeavors during the fall and winter, or just as a stand alone jacket to pack along just in case . The hood is nice, neither too big, nor too small.
In all honestly, all you think of when you feel it and pull in on is how soft and plush it feels.
"50D matte stretch plainweave".... Ok so 50-denier matte (spelled right! Why can't the rest of the users of the internet spell "matte" or "too"?) stretch plainweave What exactly? Please say Nylon (unless it's polyester, or continuous filament extruded tungsten kevlar sharkskin carbide aerogel. One can hope...)
